Locking woes continue
Locking woes continue
So I'm still having trouble with the locks on my car. It works intermittently, but any time the passenger door is opened everything gets messed up and neither door will lock. It makes it really tough to take the car anywhere knowing that I can't lock it.
I just had the alarm module replaced yesterday...for $550 installed...which didn't help. The passenger side door latch has been replaced before, but obviously didn't solve the problem.
Previously I changed the settings which worked for a while, but now I'm back to square one. Has AM solved this problem yet??

Unfortunately, yes. There have been some work-arounds posted of other sites, but none of them have worked for me. Next step is to have the dealership reprogram the lock controller.
Hey tahoe,
Something I noticed when I had my v8v was that the locking problems on our car do not appear to be the latch itself....
Any time I would open and close both doors before hitting the lock button, both would lock every time 100% of the time without exception. However when you would only open one and not the other then one would lock and the other would not.
It appears that each door locking mechanism "resets" every time you open and close the doors. I have no idea why the system works this way but it does. It appears since you replaced part of the system it may be stuck in the opposite position.
The real problem appears to be the door sensors, not the locking mechanism itself. However, the dealer would rather just replace everything for both ease and monetary gain.
For anyone having locking issues, just open and close both doors then lock and see if that solves the problem

That doesn't solve the problem...in fact, it sounds like mine is the opposite of what you had. I just figured out how to bypass it, and it all hinges on the passenger door. Hand locking the passenger door solves the problem.
If the passenger door is unlocked at any time, the key fob will not relock either door. The only solution is to hand lock the passenger door first, the the fob will lock and unlock the driver door without any problems...open it, close it, lock it, etc and no need to do anything unusual. So if I'm by myself, no problem using the fob only. If I am out with the wifey, then I have to hand lock the passenger door first then hit the lock button on the key fob to lock the driver door.
So...looks like the passenger side lock needs to be replaced or reprogrammed.

Correct, it is opposite but I think for the same fundamental cause. It is a combination of software/hardware that seems to plague the aston door locking issue.
Hopefully replacement/reprogramming will solve the problem.

My Remote works for the Doors--both Lock/Unlock, but doesn't work for the Trunk release. I've tried both Key Fobs with the same result. Dealer will check it out next week and I'll let you know.
Regardless, my trunk release is poor. It works, but I normally need to press the button three or more times before it works. I also need to be sure that I hold the fob up in the air when I am directly behind the car for the button presses to register.
I have an appointment to bring my V8V to the dealer for some warranty work a week from tomorrow. The problem with the door locks is one of the issues they will be looking at. In my case, the key fob arms the alarm and flashes the lights, but doesn't always lock the door. If you try to open the door the alarm will be triggered. The dealer said he was familiar with this issue and has seen it on other cars.
I have also noticed that the inside console switch for the trunk doesn't always work. I have to unlock the doors first with the other switch before the trunk switch will do anything. The dealer says this is normal behavior but this doesn't seem right to me. The same thing happens when I use the key fob. I have to unlock the doors first then I can press the trunk button twice to open the trunk.

I had this problem and took it to the dealer. They changed the unit in the driver door and the problem went away. 3 months later, the problem was back and I took it back to the dealer. This time they changed the same unit in the passenger door (and the service manager acknowledged that vantage is known for this plague). It's been 18 months now since the last repair and everything works just fine (knock on the wood).
