DB9 Noise.. Like metal drops off and scrapes

The last couple days I've heard the noise, what sounds like a metal sheet falling off and scraping, twice from my car, both times it was from a dead stop to low speeds. Just wanted to jump on here and see if anybody had an idea of what it is or could be.

My V8 does the same thing sometimes. I've looked but haven't been able to identify any cause.

Mine does that once in a while too, always at low speed, usually during a right turn. Sounds like parts are falling off the car & sliding around on the under-pan. Frightening to hear.

I think (hope?) it's a rock caught up around the dust shield behind the brakes. Seems to be random, and I can never make it happen when I try to repeat it.

Take a look at this post I started when I first got my car....if it's the same sound as I described, then it's normal.

I remember reading that a while back. The big thing that threw me then was the comment about the sound coming from the back. The noise I hear is from the right front. It sounds almost like a loose heat shield, or some other thin sheet of metal dragging or scraping.

As far as I can tell, mine sounds like it's front left (driver side) . Also puzzling that the same thing gets reported for both Vantage and DB9. I've got TT2 (no clutch) but it's probably pretty much the same prop shaft arrangement, if that's where it's coming from.

Could it be transmission related? Ben is your db9 a automatic w paddle shifters? I've not heard or noticed anything like this ever from my 6 spd manual equipped db9...

I've got a manual. Pretty sure it's not the transmission.

I do have the paddles. So far I've only heard it twice.

I've had this happen once when pulling away from a stop. It only lasted a few seconds (probably 5) then it stopped and has never happened again. I looked the car over well when I got home on the lift but couldn't see anything. I'm assuming it must have been a rock between the brake disc and shield.
