Fun thread... Devil's advocate

Okay so we all love our Astons there are a lot of things we like about our cars that far outweight what we may not like or that we wish were a little different... This got me thinking what are some of the things you don't like about your particular Aston or some things that you would like if it were different, I'll start:

Model: DB9

Don't like: very hard to park, back up sensors not super helpful. Sat nav is horrible, oil filter is kinda hard to get to, miss turbo boost (although the v12 is silky smooth and torquey and sounds amazing!), the huge spray from the headlamp washers all over the bonnet lol!

Wish could be different: I love the side mirrors style on the vantage wish they were like that, also would be nice with a little more defined ducktail spoiler not as much as DBS but slightly pointier and less rounded off, Wish the hardwater spots on the grille would never happen haha lol

Lol overall great car, just having some fun... Maybe I'll come up w some more later haha... Nothing is perfect, but Astons come pretty close in the car world.

Nice one Sunir,....

1. An extra 150 HP.

2. Cheaper servicing cost (although on a comparison basis they're probably not too bad)

3. A way to fit it through my front door so as I can look at its beautiful curves anytime during the day without having to go to the garage.

Ha! Well....not a whole lot.....

Fuel mileage stinks.

A Sunroof would not suck.

I can't read the 4-point type on the console dash buttons! Kind of blows my cool when I have to put on reading glasses....

Car should come from the factory with integrated radar detector and laser shifters.

Been thinking about starting a gripes thread myself. My primary gripes:

- sat nav has no labels on roads
- signal stalk feels like I'm breaking it every time I use it (very Ford)
- low-fuel warnings knock out the digital speedo, pop up way to often, and are inconvenient to clear

Overall awesome cars! Most beautiful car I've EVER owned.

These are my opinions about what I would change about the car:

1. Shouldn't have to install wheel spacers to push the wheels out to where they should be.
2. Wish the ride height was such that it wouldn't look so 4-wheeler like w/o lowering springs.
3. 20" wheels/tires should have been optional on DB9 (they are standard on the DBS...)
4. Nav sucks, I leave it off..

I know the early (Volvo) nav left quite a bit to be deisred, but what's the consensus on the newer (Garmin) system? I've not had a lot of opportuinty to use either system extensively and curious to know if the Garmin upgrade sufficiently answered the early issues.

And 20" wheels are now standard on the DB9. Back-up camera is standard for the US market now as well.

I'm just enjoying this thread... Good idea, sunir.

You guys are pointing out things I thought as well... (especially the fitting through the front door - kind of like that Lexus commercial last year, where those people woke up to a red Lexus in their white sterile living room. I'm thinking - if it was that much of a surprise - what kind of family are you - either you have zero communication skills (because who buys a car without telling the spouse?), you have OCD (because of all the white in the room), or you're a dead a$$ sleeper (couldn't hear a car pull in to your living room)?)

I've had my car for a couple of months, and am as happy as ever. However, I do wish it had a dual clutch automated manual tranny. The automatic is just too sluggish for a car like this.

1) More Power for Pete’s sake… this car has such potential. It’s a shame to let every other manufacturer on the planet beat the snot out of you with power. (HP does not win race, torque DOES… but you don’t have enough of that either!)

2) slightly more seating range

3) More Power

4) More technical information, possible a instrument cluster option on the Nav display? (oil pressure, oil temp ext..)

5) front fog lights (amber would be preferred)

6) Do I have to say it again?

The car looks so good and sounds so good that it effectively deceives me into thinking it is fast but as we all know… it is not. Granted the goal of this car is not street racing but at this price point it shouldn’t have issues out running a Ford Focus from a light (and it does have issues with that). However, I am still happier with this car than I have been with several comparable models from other manufacturers so maybe less is more (including the power of the motor)?

1) More legroom

2) The ability to read the dash and radio readouts when the top is down

All good comments keep them coming...I will add that on DB9 I too wish that prior to 2013, the car came with 20" wheels, little wider rear tires and beefier 2 piece brakes, not really any need for carbon ceramics on a street car let alone a GT car, but beefing up the rolling stock slightly would be nice.

I also agree that the plastic stalks and some of the features are off the shelf Ford and Volvo and Aston just puts them in, as is...and when something like fuel low or tire pressure low warning comes up it eliminated the digital speed readout and no way of clearing it, that's annoying.

Fuel economy well she's a mighty v12, can't expect much...and as for power gripes...I agree too guys. The car needs another 100 -150hp, and I know on the v12 they can easily acheive that.

As for sunroofs Duane...I gotta say I'm happy these cars don't have them their rooflines are spectacular, plus I hate sunroofs...cutting a hole in the roof of a car one of the key structural components, then addiing extra weight to the highest point on the chassis...all things I don't like...non of my cars have a sunroof that's no coincidence

Oh and the Nav, we all agree on that...I could have my 4 year old neice etch-a-scetch directions and it would be just as well. lol

OK so for fun only - to Jasper's remark. Last year my wife received an 03 911 Turbo for Christmas with the bow taken from the local Lexis Dealer. Keeping that a secret for a week was next to impossible. Hardest part was not being able to look at it to remind me why I just spent that money for the seven days it was hidden in a friends garage. Of course it didn't magically appear in the living room. Rather midway through Christmas Eve festivities at another family members. So people do get cars with bows on them for Christmas. :-)

When you've read the message, press the 'read' button on the dash, and the warning clears, so you're back to the digital speed readout
