New Vantage S

Hey Folks,
A new owner and new to Aston. Thought I'd drop a note. Any things I should be doing, tips, ownership advice, add-ons, things to watch out for?
thanks!

Or better yet. Tell your dealer to plug the bypass valve so you don't throw an error code. They should do it for free since it takes like 5 minutes.

So in doing so, the exhaust will sound louder at lower RPMs? Like police attracting louder? Thanks!

If this only takes 5 mins, is this something that an owner can do at home?

Or, you could pull the vacuum lines yourself. Lay on the ground looking up at each exhaust tip. There will be a round looking device (the valve) affixed to the pipe b/f the tip and there will be a rubber hose attached to it. Pull it off and plug it with a small screw. Tuck it away and the valves will stay open (louder). You're done.

Congrats and enjoy the car.

The Vantage S with the stock exhaust and bypass open is the best sounding Vantage V8 there is. Quicksilver, sports exhaust, N420, have nothing on it! I didn't know this when I bought mine but was grinning for a few days listening to the symphony!

No. Not unless you're hammering it and you blow by him/her and their window is down..... Ross might have a better answer to how real world loud it is. Mine isn't overly loud (read not loud enough).

Congratulations. I picked up a 2012 V8VS two weeks ago too (Meteorite Silver/Bentley Saddle interior). The exhaust note is addictive. Been averaging 9 mpg due to driving it hard.

Why bother? The code gets logged by the ECU internally only. The CEL never comes on because of this, so going through the extra effort for the same result is pointless.

Oh, and to the OP, congrats on the new car.

Perhaps it's pointless but it was done when I picked up the car so it was 0 of my time spent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't an emission test check for faults? Would this flag? I vaguely remember reading that pulling fuse 22 in the older cars caused this.

The exhaust bypass valves have absolutely nothing to do with emissions. They are there simply for European drive-by sound level regulations. Besides, you can always re-insert the fuse a few days prior to testing for emissions if you were concerned (not that we have that problem in FL, since we have no emissions check)

Wem: congrats on the new car! Love the color, haha. How has your experience been?

So, have all of you removed the fuse? I will basically get the same exhaust tune at under 4500 that I am now getting over 4500?

How many of you use the car as a dd?

I had my fuse out for a year with no operating issues. Just keeps the valves open in all rev ranges and you then use your right foot to control volume. I also had a remote control for a while to switch it -- it was pointless because I ended up using the switch every time I got in the car.

We have emission testing here, and I had the dealer plug the vacuum tubes and replace the fuse at last service. Passed the test (might have passed anyway, but a retest is a PITA).

Mine's a (nearly) daily driver and it's been perfectly dependable.
