I've made it 12 hrs without iPod connectivity in th 07 v8v I just got. It has premium sound sys. That is great but... Does anyone know the particulars? Also, volume crtl on wheel only works phone? Can it be adapted to work stereo? Thought I remembered seeing a thread on this forum about it. Any help would greatly appreciated, BTW, had I known just how truly wonderful this make and model was, one would have been in the garage long ago
The '07 V8Vs did not come with iPod connectivity from the factory, so yours would be an aftermarket job ... difficult to diagnose without knowing what equipment they used.
On the early models (not sure when the change was made), the volume on the steering wheel is only for the phone. I haven't seen any threads where the functionality was changed as you described.

Aston Martin makes an iPod upgrade kit for the V8 Vantage. I had it installed in my MY2007. It costs about $1,200 installed but it's the only fully integrated solution. It includes a new infotainment display, which I'm sure is part of the reason for the high cost. If you install this you can also get a Bluetooth upgrade kit from Aston installed for about $1,100 that provides the functionality of the later MY2008+ cars as well as control of the radio/iPod/CD via the steering wheel.
I know this is an expensive option but at least Aston makes it all possible in a manner that is fully integrated and dealer serviceable.

I had an old fm transmitter device that I tried this morning, the sound quality isn't there, but for listening to podcasts it is fine. I will definitey check out the device you linked to me, as mine is several yrs old and the technology now is likely much better

I did the factory AM kit as on my 2007 also. It's a pretty extensive job and for the $$ is only "OK"
Pros:
- Hearing your iPod come through that beautiful sound system the way it was supposed to
- iPhone charging
- iPhone 5 support AND charging (with the $29 adapter purchased FROM Apple)
- Text on Screen and Interface through head unit
Cons:
-Glovebox location (makes it impossible to use Siri for hands free use)
-No steering wheel button support
-Again, can't use Siri to "call someone" with bluetooth and plugged in. This is difficult to explain....your phone and bluetooth will still work just fine, you have to use the AM voice control system for the call to complete instead of asking Siri.
IMHO I think it's a great system. It does have it's flaws but I think it provides the most "true support" you can get for the audio system.
Just be ready to drop some cash, it isn't cheap (around 2000 or so after install)

AM updated the system pretty extensively so it's probably a conflict within the system. You can always try resetting your phone.
