2009 AM DB9 Oil and Filter question

I am on a mission to learn about my 2009 DB9.
So far I have read 70 of 157 pages on the forum.

I am in Central Florida
I looked us service manual for DB9
if says to use

11 quart of Mobile 1 Synthetic oil 0-40W

If I look up http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...ip2HomeClicked=

it shows multiple filter that are compatible with DB9. While from the forum it looks like I need to go with either AM or Jag filter.

Please chime in what you think, are aftermarket filter ok?
If mobile 1 0-40W good for florida or shall I go for 0-60 or 10-60W?

Thanks.

The only oil filter that fits for our cars is the Aston Martin one. You have to be careful with Advance Auto as some of their stuff is misleading. You have to choose "exact fit" on the left hand side to see what fits your car otherwise a bunch of universal stuff will show up i the search. I know the factory oil filter is expensive buts its peace of mind on a 30k+engine. I searched high and low last year for an aftermarket replacement that was made for our cars and came up empty. Mobil, Purolator and K&N all said they had no plans to make a oil filter for our car. I never asked Fram because they make crap!

07sportspack will become famous soon enough
I'm in FL and use the European Formula Mobile 1 synthetic 0W40. ONLY an AM filter for me. Take a step back, look at your DB 9 and ask yourself what you trust as an oil filter for that V12? Just my opinion on the lifeblood of my car. It's worth it for to me!

Thanks. I am just exploring options, I will do what's best for my car.
BTW I looked at filter location in my car, I can easily reach from above.
I just bought the car and my PPI guy says "looks like oil was just changed" but I am itching to change as many fluids I can change myself I.e. brake fluid, differential, oil and what ever else I could. Reason is the car was sitting at 2 different deales for probably atleast 1.5 years, and I am not sure what they changed and what not. These were not AM dealers.

Once I get pm capability, I will send you pm we/other AM owners can meet up
Someday. I

Easily reach? No way. It is virtually impossible to remove w/o making a huge mess. I tried and gave up. Now it is something the dealer does.

Get your oil (0-60) from the BMW dealer or on-line. Same stuff as the recommended Castrol.

That's for a Vantage Duane.

Mobil 0W40 for the V12 -- probably easier to find too.

Its definitely tight in there. The throttle body even needs to be removed so there is clearance for the oil filter. I noticed the more time the oil has to drain from the pan the cleaner it gets when removing the oil filter. The moment I remove the oil filter I flip it up to minimize excess on the ground.

I don't know about the mess but I was able to reach it with my hand from above, unless I am looking at wrong part.

Once I buy new oil and filter I will try atleast once, I will sure to take pics, so whether its success or failure i will post pictures, so others can benefit either way.
