I can't quite figure why Aston Martin would hack and slash the Vantage to boost sales figures while the Rapide is the first and most obvious target for that.

Probably because you can sell a ton more ~$150k cars if you lower their price to ~$100K than you can sell ~$220K cars if you lower the price to ~$180K.

90% of those options are completely unnecessary and I would definitely not order them. I would get max $5k in options, that's it... That's a $106k sticker car for essentially a V8VS.... Heck of a steal

Pissed!!!

I'm thinking about canceling my order of my V8 S. After all, why the hell am I paying 150 plus for a car that I can get for 20K less. I went to the NY Autoshow yesterday, and I have in my position the brochure for the GT.

Starting from 100, it's possible to equip the car precisely the same as a V8S. The GT will cannabolize sales for the V8S. I don't know how they can think it won't.

I am one pissed customer right now.

So cancel and re-order the GT and save 50k... seems like you'll be getting the car you want for considerably less. How is this bad?

Be glad you still haven't received the V8VS. Talk to your dealer and change your order. You will have to wait longer for a car and you will have a few less choices as far as interior and exterior colors but, in the end, Aston just saved you about $20K (not $50 like Smoltz claimed).

So don't be pissed. Be happy! You might have just saved a ton of money.

I was just ballparking since he said 150 and the base is 100 on the GT, but obviously it depends on what he ordered and what he would order on the GT, and since you don't know what he ordered your 20k guess is a ballpark too, the base price delta being 30k between the GT and S (although standard equipment varies).

You need to add about $20-30K of carbon and other options to spec a GT like a base S. But mainly, I was going based off the fact that he said it would be about $20K less to option a GT to the same level as his current order.

Ok. Let's figure:

A base Vantage S is 135,225.

A base GT is 99,999.

To option out a GT as an S model, dealing with just the Carbon parts

1. a) Carbon Fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, b) side strakes, c) mirror caps, d) rear lamp fills =

Exterior Carbon Pack = $4,545

This price would probably decrease since you can order the exterior Carbon pieces on their own.

2. Technology Pack that includes Cruise Control, Bluetooth telephone prep and satellite preparation

= $2690

So we're now at $107,234 vs $135,225, just to start.

The amount saved is $27,991. Mind you there are other options that can rasie the price of either car further but the deep discount is the slap in the face to those currently awaiting delivery.

Tech pack should be $2690, not $5000.

I was told $5000 yesterday at the Autoshow. The price is noted.

Does anyone have solid info on the option prices?

Karlfranz?

Look on the previous page of this thread, someone posted the pricing list, looks quite official as I have seen some of the dealer documentation and the formatting matches although there is one discrepancy. Sat radio is listed as standard and also included in the tech package.

That's all I've seen, and that's where I pulled the number for my previous post. Stuart's got a pretty good handle on things so I wouldn't be surprised if the price list he posted is an official one

I almost bought a fully loaded Vantage S (including the 10k stereo) for 130. It listed at 165 or so. I would not expect to pay more than 90 for the GT, maybe 80 at the end of the year. Brand new and almost identical to the 160 car. Bad time to be selling a Vantage.

The list Stuart posted is the official one except there are some additional options such as carbon fiber exhaust tips and carbon fiber rear luggage cover from Q division that are not listed and we couldn't even find prices for.

So far, what I have seen standard on an S includes:

Carbon splitter and diffuser 6,380
Colored calipers 1,595
Carbon side strakes 1,595
Carbon mirror covers 1,595
10 spoke wheels 3,190
Piano black interior trim 2,270
Cruise and Bluetooth 2,690
Front parking sensors 570
Garage door opener auto-dim mirror 450

Some of the above vary as standard equipment from market to market. As you can see though, the options do add up after a while.
