2015 V8 Vantage GT
The difference is that there was a lot of room to negotiate in the previous cars whereas there is almost none in the new ones. What Aston has done is essentially wipe out the high margin of negotiation that dealers had for a more "fixed" price. You will NOT find a new GT at 90K, let alone 80K this year. Remember, the GT is a 2015 model that won't even be for sale until sometime in the third calendar quarter of this year.

To option out a GT as an S model, dealing with just the Carbon parts
1. a) Carbon Fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, b) side strakes, c) mirror caps, d) rear lamp fills =
Exterior Carbon Pack = $4,545
This price would probably decrease since you can order the exterior Carbon pieces on their own.

I'm fine with the price differential if Aston Martin is willing to build my car with the interior/exterior black pieces.
These are what I'd like for them to place in my car, which are all standard on the GT:
Black Headlamp bezels
Black side window surround
Clear rear lamps with Black surround
Pure Black Alcantara steering wheel
Black pedals.
These last two may have cost.
Seems the Black interior pack is a priced option (I merely want the Black anodized center console rotary *****, as well as the Black speaker covers and the Black heater vents).
Would also love to switch my 10-spoke Diamond Turned Graphite Rims for the 10-spoke forged alloy graphite painted wheels.
Any thought about getting Aston to move on these??

Either way, one still come's out ahead starting from a base GT model.
The list Stuart posted is the official one except there are some additional options such as carbon fiber exhaust tips and carbon fiber rear luggage cover from Q division that are not listed and we couldn't even find prices for.
So far, what I have seen standard on an S includes:
Carbon splitter and diffuser 6,380
Colored calipers 1,595
Carbon side strakes 1,595
Carbon mirror covers 1,595
10 spoke wheels 3,190
Piano black interior trim 2,270
Cruise and Bluetooth 2,690
Front parking sensors 570
Garage door opener auto-dim mirror 450
Some of the above vary as standard equipment from market to market. As you can see though, the options do add up after a while.

If a Base V8VS was $135K as suggested, there's $15K of savings, which is (coincidentally????
) pretty much the exact amount of trunk money Aston was throwing at the 2013 cars still on lots. That's why I've been saying I don't think residuals are going to be affected as much as some people think. There's only 2 significant differences here:
1. The Trunk money is now official and transparent. You just don't have to haggle to get it anymore.
2. You can get the cool stuff from the 'S' (engine, suspension, exhaust) that you want without having to buy all the carbon etc. if you don't want it.
This is more of a restructuring of the WAY the car is sold than it is about the price it sells for. Yes, there is some decrease in real-world actual purchase pricing, but it isn't nearly as drastic as it might seem.

Here it is now, and their offering the darn car for less with all the specific parts that I wanted as standard!
Surely, AM should be willing to build my car with those specific parts, as opposed to what they normally would have used (and without additional cost)?
Nice way of putting it Stuart. My main issue is that I tried to get my car built with those "Black" pieces, and got resistance with respect to getting that done.

(mind you, Aston hasn't even started building the car yet
)
Agreed... I don't know why you wouldn't be able to cancel unless the dealership was trying to hold the sale so they could get the difference in sale price between the S and GT...
I haven't pushed the issue, but the salesman must think I'm an idiot.
I'd expect better from an AM dealer and wouldn't put up with them trying to weasel you, if that's what's happening. If push comes to shove, cancel the order outright and buy the V8VGT from another dealership. Good luck either way, hopefully it gets sorted.
I agree Karl-Franz, those options are all standard on an S, which makes an equivalently optioned V8VGT $120,235

Moreover, the damage done to the perception of the Vantage's -- and Aston Martin's -- standing in the exotic car heirarchy remains very real. One needs only to read this thread to see that. IMO, they should have instead launched a marketing campaign touting how good these cars really are, how they've been developed and honed over the car's life, how truly advanced VH not only was but still is, etc., rather than shouting that they're not as great as we thought, not really worth the money, not actually worth a premium over a Porsche. That would have been a far better way to improve sales. What they've done, or perhaps more accurately, how they've done it, seems daft.
The GT is a great car (as are all of the Vantages), but the marketing is terrible.
Come on, a sub 100k Vantage to "appeal" to more buyers. My point of buying the Aston was it's limited availability.
