Clear Tail lights
Clear Tail lights
I was busy this weekend playing with my toys! I landed a set of clear tail lights from a local buddy that just sold his Vantage and the buyer didn't want the clear lights. I picked them up cheap and installed them to see if I liked them. I can't decide, but I think they are growing on me, definitely a contrast to the black theme and complement the chrome accents and trim around the windows. Thoughts?

Thank you sir! The more I see them on the car, the more I like the clean look. My wife asked if I got a new car! Lol!
Thanks guys! My wife now tells me that she likes them better than the red ones too..... Only thing is, she wants to get clear corner markers and clear reflectors on the rear bumper...... Doh!

While I applaud your effort, you don't want them. The clears look great on black and other dark or rich colors (cobalt blue, lava red) but they look dead and featureless on Tungsten paint.
The coolest looking thing you could do if you want to make your Tungsten Vantage pop a bit is to smoke the tail lights and markers. I'm not sure how or who but I've seen a few smoked Vantage lights and markers out there so i know it's possible without going to the Pep Boys tint aisle.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....
Okay, Okay! After driving the car for a few days and looking at the sexy rear end with the clears, I LOVE them. The car looks clean and sleek. I am going to smoke the reds out and will post pics up when I get them returned and installed.

Art, I think the clear taillights would look even better on your black car if they were the carbon edition version which have a black border instead of the light gray. I wanted these for my car but didn't want to spend the money trading mine in and getting another set for such a subtle enhancement. So what did I do? Vinyl to the rescue, of course! I wrapped the edges in gloss black vinyl and unless you actually inspect it from within 4 inches, you would never be able to tell. Here's one of my pictures showing the result:
I like both versions.
Red calipers and red lights on a black AM look both clean & menacing all at the same time.
I've debated painting my calipers vs going clear on lights all around.
I'm very curious to see the smoked versions....
