Rear Pads Low
Lady backed into my 06 db9. Body shop drove out to end of building detailed including tire shine. When started the "rear pads low" info was on and red brake lite on dash was on. We figure tire shine got on rotors? Light goes out when you mash on brakes to stop, only on when @ stand still? Any ideas? Thank You
Your rear brake pads are worn out, or the lip of the worn brake rotor has cut into the sensor. If you mash on the brakes it goes out? Clear sign of sensor open circuit. You are making the open circuit closed by touching the rotor with the worn sensor.
The Body shop that did repairs is Rick Hendrick Collision Center so when the lite came on after detailing they pulled rear wheels and both brake pads (75%) and e-brake pads close to 100% (never use). So I don't know if the sensor dislodged when the detailed, wonder if it is on the back of rotor where they would't notice? Thanks for the reply

Finally got in to see my 15 year european mechanic, and he said pads were down to 3/32nds barely above state inspection. The regular shop was measuring pad and backing to get 7/32nds reading. Now to search the web for best rear pads. Thanks for all the replies

carbotech seem to be very popular here.
You can replace both the front and the rears for the same or less cost than buying the factory Pagit pads.
I would recommend that you do both axle sets at the same time-
I purchased my pads from topbrakes dot com, free shipping and about a 10% discount from list price.
Same pads are available for your year DB9, according to the site.
Stewart may have a deal also?

I love my ceramic EBC reds once I got the squeal issue resolved. However, make sure you install the anti squeal shims from Aston Martin (4G43-28-10789) if you plan on running EBC brake pads. Also, the brake dust with the reds is pretty much halved when compared to the factory pads which is a nice perk.
