Transaxcle oil again

I have a 2007 Vantage, (with 4K miles,) and have a hard time getting into second gear when the transaxle is cold.
I know this subject has been covered many times; I have searched the archives but have not found what I am looking for.
I know there was a service bulletin (236) some time ago that addressed this problem. My dealer informs me that this is not available to cars out of warranty. Even if I had the dealer do this service, my understanding is that they no longer have Castrol BOT 270 oil available to them.
I have tried to locate Castrol BOT 270A, the gear oil used in the service bulletin, but to no avail.
I have read where someone used Mobile1 75W-90W gear oil with good results. I have also seen where Castrol synthetic (Syntrax?) 75W-90W gear oil was used as well.
My question is, has anyone used any oil (other than Castrol BOT 270A) that has actually fixed the problem?
If so what oil, and where is it available?

Thanks

Yes I did, thanks. It very informative, However its seems that the recommended replacements, Castrol syntrax, does not solve the hard shifting. I was hoping to find either the 270A Castrol or a replacement that did the same thing, improve or eliminate the hard shifting problem. Am I missing anything?

Not oil but still related, have you had the newer shifter linkage retrofit done? It helps as well.

No I have not. My dealer is in Tampa Florida. When I call I get voice mail most of the time. . I have left a message for them to call me back. I want to know if they do the 267 service bulletin what kind of oil they would use. Will keep the list informed

My indie shop was able to source it from the aston dealer, although at the cost of $30+ a quartz. that fluid change cost me like $800

This is the indie shop that did the work, maybe you can ask where they sourced it from (they will remember me as the green aston vantage with the yellow highlights)

http://www.exoticars-usa.com/

And this is probably the dealer they used (local to NJ):

ouch... I went with Castrol Syntrax from Amazon when I did mine. Did the job myself. It was $54 for the 6-pk when I bought it, now it's listed at $71. Still, a far cry less than $30+/qt and an $800 bill!

Yeah one of my main goals in 2016 is to learn how to DIY most of the services on the car. That one transmission fluid change could of funded an entire year's of DIY maintenance

Telum01 Was there any difference in shifting after the oil change?

If there was, it wasn't an obvious difference. A habit I formed a long time ago is to shift through the gears when I first turn on the car to get them moved a bit - while parked, I shift through 1st through 6th gears then back to neutral, then 1st/reverse (depending on which direction I need to go). It seems to help at least a little, but isn't a cure for the hard-shift problem.

I don't see what the problem really is..the dealer can STILL order the Bot 270A..I know because I fill cars every week with the stuff.

You NEED the BOT 270A and not the Syntax, Syntax is a 75W and the BOT 270A is a 70W. Not much difference you'd think but only 5W is a lot thinker in cold weather.

The shifter arm is also needed if it's an early car, gives more throw, and then the mount for the ball area will be notched to also allow a known problem with 1st gear(arm is for 2nd).

YES these parts are available for off warranty cars..how do I know?

Because I'm GOD!! ..Well maybe not God but I'm in the files somewhere with a number next to my name!
