Going on Vacation....... Press the button??
Hi guys,
I'm going on some vacation for about 2 weeks. I cannot keep the batter tender on, unfortunately. I'm really worried to come back and find that my car has a flat battery. Can anyone offer any recommendations?
I know there is a button you can press that will put the vehicle in low power mode. I was thinking of doing that and also keep the trunk ajar(open) that way I can get the tender working right away without having to worry about not having access. Is there anything else I should do and it's okay to press that button right?

No problems if you press the battery disconnect button. Everything goes back to normal when you put the key in the ignition and cycle it back on (that's what "reconnects" the battery). You should be okay for two weeks with the battery disconnect pushed, but sometimes these cars can surprise you.

Ahh see now you have me worried that something will go wrong by pushing that button . I thought it would keep the core systems powered however and keep the cars main systems working. I would roll the dice and just let it sit, but i'm really worried it'll be flat by the time I return. I'm hoping by leaving the trunk open that I can just plug it in when I get back at least.

The point I was trying to make is that your car should be fine sitting for two weeks if you press the battery disconnect button. If you have an electrical gremlin, you might be surprised by a flat battery - but that means something is wrong with your car. Or it means you've got a dying battery and the two weeks killed it. Two weeks isn't long, though.

RFM: Car shold be fine for up to 4 weeks without pressing the button, pressing the button extends the time to 70 days.

While I agree with Telum that it should not be a problem, I would not "push the button" . The entire " button" sequence is software controlled. Too many times it seems something does not go as planned when the ingnition key is supposed to re-activate all the systems made dormant by the " button"
Sitting for two weeks should not be a problem for a properly charged battery.
My two cents.

When I bought my car, the lead tech gave me a tour of the car, top, bottom, outside and in. Vince at Park Place, great guy. When showing me what's under the hatch and inside the fuse box, he pointed me to the storage button and immediately stated not to use it.
My car goes for way more than 2 weeks without a maintainer without a problem. Depends on the health of your battery.

What "button" are we referring to here?
I have a 2012 VantageS, and I regularly leave the beauty sleeping for 3-4 weeks at a time with no battery tender.
I'm in original battery and never had a problem to date.
I've considered getting a tender, but have been told repeatedly that getting her out once a month should suffice to keep the battery charged...
I would however love to know more about this magic button...

Never knew there was a long term button. I have left my 07 V8V for more than 2 weeks a few times in the last year. Never had a an issue with the battery and I'm not using a tender, but might get one. With every startup, let her warm up properly especially if she sat awhile.
