Trunk open warning

I was adjusting the trunk latch on my Vantage and after its done, when I start the car, a warning message came up about trunk open. I double checked everything and all are secured. What could have happened?

The sensor is really sensitive, mine keeps going off after I did not put put my golf bag in all the way and the strap got caught up in the the latch.

Mine lights up every now and then. I'll fix it one of these days, but for now it's just one of the quirks of the car.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I just got the "trunk open" warning on my car today, after installing the backup camera.
I had to remove the scuff plate and the trunk stayed open for 7 hours...
I tried removing the hatchback poppers and "slamming" the trunk , same result...
The problem is all lights inside the car stay on even when I am driving, and they turn off only when I lock the car.
Where can I find the "trunk open/closed" sensor?
Is there a module I need to reset?
Thanks!

I had that intermittently on my DB9. There's a microswitch that detects the trunk open condition, and mine was flaky.

I don't know much about microswitches so I replaced the whole latch unit. It's a Volvo part, less than $100. Never had the problem again.

I removed the hatch striker plate for something un-related. It took several tries to get it positioned "just right" to make the trunk open warning go away. Perhaps you can find the sweet spot with some tinkering.

If you lean on the trunk sill you can very easily bend the latch mechanism. Mine wouldn't latch after having some stereo work done. I just grabbed the latch with my hands and gently pulled it up just a fuzz and bingo.....problem solved. They're kind of flimsy.

That is the latch unit we're talking about, correct?

Yes, that's the part I replaced to solve my problem.

Thank you!
I am looking into replacing the trunk poppers as well, I wonder if they just didn't give up after being released for so long...
