Cat delete ?

guys can I remove my cats ? If so how do I sort out the sensors and is it possible to fool the system say with a resistance in place of a lambda sensor ? Or Is there a software delete ?will it have negative consequences?
im not to concerned with the whales in wherever they come from nor do I care about saving the world one decibel at a time, I'm sure they restrict the performance and also they must retain heat?

My understanding is there are 3 cat converters each side. The last one, #3, is the one that can be deleted or exchanged to a lower cell count. It is not monitored and this won’t effect the electronic monitoring. I have not done mine yet but thinking of doing a 200 cell exchange. I have heard the cat delete is rather loud.

Like lilseevs said it depends on the model year.

I deleted the 3rd set of cats on my DB9 and replaced it with a straight pipe from VelocityAP. Noticeably louder and doesn't drone. No impact to emissions monitoring as there is no sensor on those cats. I'm happy with the results and would recommend it.

Depends on the year, I have cat deletes from VAP, they are awesome. 2011 V8V. I believe 2009 and on have no sensors in the secondary cats and can be replaced with high performance cats with no CEL. worked with mine no problem, no CEL.

I have 2007 V8V - and considering of doing a delete on the 3rd cat and replace with straight pipe. Has anyone on this forum done this with a similar year/model? if so, how does it sound?

To avoid CEL when deleting main cats, your can utilize a 02 sensor "fooler". Vibrant makes a thread-in unit.

I did this and it’s too loud for my taste. My car also has headers, so that contributes. The challenge for me is that I like to speak on the phone when I drive and my headset picks up the exhaust noise with the cat deletes. I will put the cats back on and sell my AP delete kit soon. I also have a 07 V8.

Don’t mean to hijack this thread...

Recently installed 200 cell cats and X-pipe. Kept original cats and downstream piping. I doubt I’ll ever go back. Any interest in purchasing?
