First Question of Many

Got my 07 Vantage this weekend. It came with one key and one remote. I searched on here and most of the threads were pretty dated and didn't know if anything had changed. Does any of the nationwide locksmiths have the ability to program them and/or anyone in the KC area know of anyone? I ask since I am 300 miles, each way, from a dealer. Called the closest dealer, in St. Louis Missouri and they wanted 224 for the key and 850 for a fob. That is crazy. I could see 500-600 for the set but dang. Yes I know, you have to pay to play.

Thanks for any information you have.

Thom

I have one key fob as well. Purchased a skeleton key for about $300 from dealership in case my fob dies. Like to have a valet key but has to be programmed at dealership which is 3hrs away. If anybody has advice on a spare key & programming please let us know.

Lol. No programming needed. Its the metal key that goes to the doors. The dealership just asked for my VIN. It is ordered by VIN so the key matches your car. I tried a few places to get one but the dealership was the only place and believe me I never want to order from any dealership.

Keys

The valet key for the 07 has a chip inside which has to be matched to your vehicle. I don't know whether It's programmed at the dealership or not. I survived 10 years with my 07 with 2 keys and one fob. Traded for a Rapide and now I have one crystal key and one valet key and you thought yours was expensive.

What sucks is I am a very OCD person about card. So having one key and one fob is driving me crazy. Logically there is no reason, at all, that I need a second key and fob. I know it but my brain says otherwise. You will soon see that I will be posting all types of nitpick things as I attempt to return car to as close to perfect condition as possible. I can't help it. Very glad I don't have Crystal Key.

The key needs to be ordered. As many mentioned, the dealership is an option. You can also try astonmartinbits.com

You can save money on the remote! I bought a volvo remote, had it programmed at the dealer, then switched the guts into an Aston Martin case housing. Some members here have made their own remote cases which look even better.

We have one independent mechanic in the bay area with the AMDS computer and can do programming. If you have one around your area, I recommend finding them as you can likely save money there too.

spyder997s, Thanks for the info. Volvo fob seems way better then $650 option for genuine. I have googled my area with little success. Hopefully someone here works on them, for when I get stumped.

Checked out astonmartinbits.com (cool site) but looks like a 4hour drive to dealer is necessary for a key.

KEY - FACTORY CUT EXACTLY AS THE ORIGINAL SUPPLIED NEW WITH THE CAR

WE NEED THE CARS VIN AND A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION DOCUMENT FOR THE CAR, WE CAN ONLY POST THE KEY TO THE REGISTERED KEEPER AS SHOWN ON THE REGISTRATION DOCUMENT

PLEASE NOTE: THE CAR WILL NEED TO BE CODED BY A MAIN DEALER TO ACCEPT THE NEW IMMOBILIZER CHIP IN THE KEY

***WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO SUPPLY THESE KEYS FOR CARS OUTSIDE OF EUROPE
***PLEASE SEE YOUR LOCAL MAIN DEALER OR SEE OTHER LISTING FOR BLANKS AND ARRANGE CUTTING LOCALLY

Condition: NEW SPECIAL ORDER

Only way to program a key is with the AMDS computer that was mentioned above. Keys will always be special order and typically require payment in advance and proof of ownership.

Correct with astonmatinbits.com. That is why I ordered my key from Atlanta Motor Cars. VIN and proof of registration.

For the remote, it is volvo part number 30772198. The important piece here is the code is available so the tech can program it with AMDS.

There are threads here on how to make your own remote case, refashion a jaguar one, or just re-use a used Aston Martin remote.

I purchased most of these items on eBay at reasonable prices.

So for less than $70 I can get a remote instead of the dealer $650. Holy crap that is awesome. See I can swallow $270 for Fob and $224 for key. That is more than reasonable. (Well short of the 240 miles drive, each way, to stealership).

Thanks guys.

I want to ask my local dealer if they are willing to do a group buy. I think I can round up 5-10 local owners who'd want an additional crystal key if we could get the price down.
