A few questions about the armrest console in my 2009 V8V from a relative noob...
1) I assume that the small magnets are supposed to stay in the lid? Mine seem to have come unglued... Anyone have a recommendation for what glue to use to put them back in? 2-part Epoxy?
2) Also, it was my understanding that the cup holder divider should be able to flip back into the console and the lid close on it. However, my divider doesn't flip 180 degrees, and instead stops while still sticking up, making the lid not close completely (pictures below). My thought is that the divider may have been installed upside-down, but I don't know if that's the case, or if there is something else wrong. Anyone had this issue before? Any ideas on how to solve it?
Thanks in advance for any help. It's much appreciated.
I just check mine and it is the same, it has some resistance when flip inside the console but just push a little harder and it will go in without breaking anything. As far as the magnet, mine also needs to be reglued.... Good luck
^^ It's probably never been folded all the way down. They tend to have a harsh detent, so just lean on it harder. Could have some sticky drink residue also. Shot of WD-40 may help. Super glue works for the magnets. Clean up the residue in the bore of the lid, and see if you can find thin felt or cloth tape to apply to the front of the magnet. It lowers the force so the magnet doesn't pull out easily. They had that from the factory, when it peels off the magnet falls out shortly thereafter.
I haven’t been able to flip mine 180 degrees in my 2010 dbs (does same as yours), guess I just need to press harder but was afraid to break something. Will try later today.
Well, I took @Handyman2009 and @J_doubleU’s advice and pushed harder. After some resistance, it sort of pops down flat. I guess that’s normal, so thanks guys, it works as designed.
I’ll probably go with a little bit of 2-part epoxy lovingly applied with a toothpick to stick my magnets back in. I’ll report back if they ever fall out again after that. If you don’t hear from me, then you can assume that the epoxy fixed it.
