Velocity tune done , wow what a difference . Way better throttle response , once you hit the powerband it takes off , sounds awesome. Now I just need to avoid the tickets .

You're in CA, you have to be very careful. State BAR does road side check points, with NO cats, they can fine you $25k.

To each their own, but I think straight pipes are on the more obnoxious side of noise level and more akin to US muscle cars. That being said - I'm also wary of the environmental detriment. I'm looking forward to installing my 200 cell cats and tune on my 4.3, and think it will wake the car up to more of a sports car rather than a lazy GT.

I still owe an audio of my car but I’m thrilled with:

1) ECU upgrade. If your car is stock, this is the first thing you should do. I went with Velocity’s ECU kit.

2) Velocity’s air box delete kit

3) X-Pipes

4) muffler delete kit.

gave me the performance lift and sound I was looking for. Now the car feels and sounds like an exotic V12.

The hydrogen sulfide (rotten eggs ) smell is from the Sulphur that is present in the fuel. The converter is responsible for converting this to Sulphur dioxide, which is odorless.
That said, completely eliminating the catalytic converter may or may not make the exhaust smell. It dependents on the amount of Sulphur in the gasoline. Be aware that you may have other odors from the exhaust without the converter. (smile)

I can recommend the tune and the 200cell cats . Really wakes the car up and Chris at Velocity has been super helpful in helping this non tech savvy wrench turner get the tune done and working .
Im going to get some more drive time but I may have them tweak the throttle response some more .

very interesting what you did here, muffler delete. What made you decide this option? Most are just deciding between 200 cell cat vs. cat delete. How does that sound?

when I did the air box delete kit, I really enjoyed how it opened up the intake and the improved engine sound it gave. But I still had the original straight pipes on the car and so my engine still sounded like two inline 6’s instead of a V12. So I went with the x-pipes. That definitely improved the sound but the car was still very quiet and I wanted to open it up a bit.

I was worried that a full muffler delete would be too obnoxious but I’ve been thrilled with it every time I start the engine since going with that kit.

it is very loud when I want it to be. But when I need it to be less aggressive (such as driving through my neighborhood), it’s just fine.

But when I punch it, it’s perfection.

Audio clips never do the true sound justice. Still, I thought I had one that I could post but I can’t find it so I’ll make another one today and post it.

oh - also - how does it sound? In my experience it sounds like what most go for with a cat delete and are then disappointed.

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into the muffler Delete option. Do you have a V12?

I do have a V12. It’s the kind of modification you can do without regrets because it’s easily reversed if you don’t like it.
