DB9 shake in steering wheel over bumps, normal?

Just picked up a new to me 2006 DB9 with 22000 miles. The car really looks to be cared for and drives perfect except I’m noticing that going over medium to moderate bumps I can feel the wheel shake in my hand. Got it up on a lift and nothing looks loose or out of sorts. Is this normal for these cars or is there something I should be looking at? I can’t imagine the shocks would be worn at 22k? Thanks for any help you can give!

Convertible or coupe? Some shake is expected with the drop top.

It would help to know if you are experiencing a vibration of the steering wheel or if you are actually experiencing bump steer. When you feel the bumps does the car change direction slightly? If so it’s likely bump steer. Does the car have aftermarket wheels? Are the tires wider than what is recommended for your model?

Are your tires Bridgestones? If so, they transmit all kinds of road imperfections (because they're like rocks, especially at that age).

Your tire age seem at the end of their usable life. If they are Bridgestones they have lived their life in years. The difference going from old, hard OEM tires for the model year cars we have (05-07) to Michlens make a world of difference. Of course correct tire pressure( 36 fronts / 38 rears,--- check your manual ) I think....for your car is correct PSI; balancing and alignment make a difference as do the inspection of the shocks and undercarriage of the car. Inspect the wheels also to insure one of them have not been damaged. Lastly, enjoy the car, driving them make you smile !

it’s a tough sensation to describe. It’s not bump steer as it doesn’t change direction. It just kind of vibrates a bit in my hands like I’m feeling the bigger bumps Through the wheel and not through the suspension of the car. Wheels are stock 19s and yes running on bridgestones as well.

yes they are Bridgestones. What would you suggest to change them to? Pilot sports?

I've been using Continental ExtremeContact Sports, which are very good and are a vast improvement over the Bridgestones. Most here recommend Michelin PS4S which are slightly better for a somewhat higher cost, Check out the test results at tirerack.com.

How are you planning to use the car? Rally's, on the track, or just fun, sometimes spirited, drives....or a combination ? Knowing this info will help in your selection of a tire for you. There are plenty of owners on this forum that will share their experiences....good and bad about tires.

It's a "feature" of the cars before the 2009MY.

The 2009 MY beefed up the cross beam holding the steering and the front lower suspension arm compliance brushes were stiffened (by c+22%).

These changes reduced kickback and steering feel and response.

This is what worked for me on my '07 coupe. I would almost guarantee this will fix your issue as it did mine... and it's cheap:
