Yep, was planning on it around 1k-1,500 as I need to take it back to the dealer for a couple minor tweaks anyway

They call it Tempest Blue but it's really more of a gunmetal gray with a hint of dark blue in just the right light.

Thanks man, seems like it's been an eternity but am glad it's over and now I essentially have a brand new powertrain. I think it was just **** luck to buy the only one to ever let go like that... even the service manager who's been in AM service / race mechanic for 10+ years said he's never seen anything like it with the V8's (just one V12 that he knew of took a similar dive).

People don't do an oil change that early because engines are made much better than they were in the old days, and the oil is much better, so it isn't necessary. That is why most manufacturers don't recommend it, not because people don't care about the cars.

But, particularly in the US much more than in Europe, you like to change oil very frequently, so why not, particularly after such a traumatic start to your ownership of this beautiful car

Oil is cheap. Engines are not. Owners may love their cars but car companies are trying to reduce your maintainance costs by extending oil change periods.

Only the M series BMW engines had a break in oil change and really want to sell you a new car in 2-3 years. And oil changes were 10K-15k miles between. If you go to a dealer you can see the stack of crated motors being replaced at 80-90k mikes due to (usually) worn guides. The tolerances on the AM is similar to the S62, so probably worth the oil and filter. I am going to do a Blackstone oil analysis to see what metal I picked up.
