V8 Vantage CV Joint Axle/Halfshaft boot repair DIY
One day I noticed my right halfshaft boot had been torn. A new one was $800 from Scuderia, and mine wasn't making any noises (it had only been torn for a week or so before I noticed), so decided to fix it with a Flexx Boot that didn't require taking apart the CV joint.
It's fairly straightforward, but worthy of noting:
1) The new bolts I got from Scuderia were maybe 5mm longer than what was there. No issue, though.
2) The left side of the car has the ride height sensor that informs the headlight levelers...There isn't much space to get the axle out, and I wound up snapping the arm on mine. It's like one bolt to remove, so...whoops.
3) Keep the axle nut tight until you remove the halfshaft from the gearbox...It's a tight fit.
4) A powered ratchet will be your best friend, and you'll need a torque wrench capable of 300Nm/222ft-lb.
I couldn't find a video on it, so I made my own. Hopefully it'll be helpful to someone in the future:
