Power Steering Pump replacement - Vantage

I have a 2009 Vantage, and it seems that the power steering pump is bad. The steering randomly gets "stuck" (particularly when turning from center) and I'm getting vibration in the steering wheel (even when stopped). The fluid has been changed (didn't help).
Is the power steering pump an Aston specific part or is there another power steering pump that is compatible?
Thanks!
-Paul

It might be easier and cheaper to get it rebuild, I am sure that there is a Land Rover or Jag or Ford or Volvo that has the same parts but you will have to do the research.

My DB9 pump was replaced with a Jag or Ford pump - can't recall which but the AM part # was easily cross referenced. Make sure you add Lubrizol to the fluid - really quiets the pump down.

Do you have to drain or flush the pump and reservoir to add the Lubrizol or can you just top off a bit with it? Mine is operatic when its cold, and only a little less so once warmed up. Especially in parking garages.

I've rebuilt the power steering pump, but there aren't any rebuild kits out there that are available. I had to source all of the o-rings and wiper seals myself. The pump itself is sourced from ZF (now Bosch) which appears to have been used on the Jaguar XF from a similar era or early 2000s Volvos, however neither of which have the same pump, just similar housings from the same mfg. In rebuilding the pump, I only replaced the seals as mine was fairly new, but it may be possible to get the PSP from a Jag XF parts car and swap the internals.

You wouldn't have to drain the fluid to add Lubrizol as it will mix through out the system with some regular use. Just ensure you don't over fill the reservoir.

However, if you are having some minor issues with yours I would recommend doing a system drain / flush and refill with fresh Pentosin + 50ml of Lubrizol. I did mine a couple of weeks ago using the factory service bulletin SB-11-0300 as a guide. It wasn't too difficult.

Oops - my bad - thanks for catching my mistake. It should be 50ml. I've updated my original post to correct it.

I got hold of some Lubrizol from Schmiedmann, in Denmark, as well as a high speed-low drag turkey baster from Publix and performed the aforementioned operation. I confess to being impressed. No more meowing on low speed turns.

50ml of Lubrizol will change your life.

Does it make any whine/noise? Have you checked or lubed the any U-joints in the steering column?

Can you please share the exact name of the Lubrizol product to use?

My recent to me 2006 V8 Vantage has a fluid change but no mention of the additive ....

Thanks....

Ps: There are a couple plastic syringe kits on eBay and Amazon that work great for the removal of some fluid.

I bought this on Flebay: New Genuine Power Steering Fluid Additive - (50 ml Bottle) (Lubrizol 6178) Costs about $20.
