Battery died

I tried starting my car today and the lights went crazy and the analog clock went cuckoo. It made a clicking sound. I think its the battery. It was only 41 months since I bought this one (36 month warranty)

I remember 2013 V8 Vantage had a different bracket so the battery was a different height. Mine was group size T8 and it fits.

I have a battery tender by CTEK when I don't drive it, it’s connected to the CTEK in the garage. I’m surprised it only lasted 41 months. Any suggestions on what to use?

I remember the H8 battery was too tall (7.5 inches) and it wouldn't work with my existing bracket. So the T8 (7 inches) is the only one that fits without having to buy a new bracket.

What car do you have? I bought an AutoCraft Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H8, 900 CCA from Advance Auto Parts for my '06 DB9 back in 2015 and it fits perfectly and still measures like new. I keep it on a CTEK tender whenever the car's not being driven.

I have a 2013 V8Vantage. I also use a CTEK charger. I did not get AGM battery. I got the group size T8 Die Hard Gold, not the H8 due to height difference. 41 months seems short.

Isn’t the purpose of the CTEK supposed to keep your battery from draining? I’m surprised my battery died after 41 months.

I replaced it with another one that has a 3 year warranty. How do battery warranties work? Can you call them at 2.5 year and say you want a replacement?

I also noticed the battery vent tube that connects to the battery. Is the other side of the vent tube supposed to connect to the side of the car somewhere or do you just let it hang down? Is is bad if you don’t connect the vent tube at all?

I use a CTEK in-line charge indicator .... About $12.00. LED array tells you the state of the battery.

BTW .... There are some smaller ctek maintainers .... Get one that has 5am or more .... Aston computers have a large draw ....

Purchased an Odyssey battery, always on a battery maintainer and it died after one year. Replaced with an interstate. Sometimes you just get a bad battery

strange that my ctek indicator was still flashing green on a bad battery. It is when I disconnected the terminals did it start flashing red.

Invest in a battery tester, there are many on the market under $100. I find myself using it more often than I thought. Here's 1 example of a name brand unit that's very reasonable on sale.

Any "new" battery over 3 years old becomes suspicious in an AM. It's well known that Astons don't like batteries that are questionable. Especially the Volante'. I've heard too many stories around a malfunctioning top that came back related to battery condition.
Of course a lot depends on your driving habits. A battery doesn't deserve to spend half its life on a conditioner. It needs to be "exercised". Fortunately, in FL we have year round driving. Cars/batteries stored for 6 months at a time deserve appropriate attention.

I got the ctek mxs 5 test and charge version. Pretty good as it can also test voltage, start power and alternator.

I had one of these hooked up to my battery. Comes with an app and will alert you when your battery is getting low. Also records cranking amps, charging voltage and such. It does draw a bit but I hardly ever let the car sit for more than a week without a drive.
