SmarTire TPMS
SmarTire TPMS
I’ve been reading up on the SmarTire system which is on my 2010 Vantage mounted under glovebox. I changed my cabin filters and saw the plug unplugged. I plugged it back and all of the lights blink amber I have the original set of wheels on shelf and I am running HREs so I haven’t figured out if/where the original sensors are. I read about the aftermarket sensors and cloning them so I will figure that out next year when I am ready to replace the tires.
My question here is why I don’t get a dash light with it unplugged? I see redpants sells the tpms eliminator but mine is simply unplugged with no lights or warnings on dash.

Are you sure they installed new TPS? I bought new wheels and tires, the wheel manufacturer mounted and balanced the new tires, TPS etc. I put the on the car and didn't get any TPS warnings. They paired instantly I assume.
I won’t know until next year what’s in the tires. I just was curious about the lack of dash lights when I unplugged the system.

Pre 2008 you can just unplug with no warning. Onwards you need a plug in defeat or jump the 3 wires on the connector to disable. Easy to disable probe all 4 wires and connect the three that do not have power supply. So basically ground the 2 signal wires for warning and fault.

I never tried just unplugging it, I plugged the jumper in and never thought about it, until these threads come up and I think about putting these sensors in. If somebody wrote a cloning sensors for dummies page I'd put them in, I need 8 tires right now!
if not the tool can read the old one. I watched a couple of videos and read up on it. Seems a little quirky but do-able. I’ll tackle it next year when I get new tires.
