2014 Vanquish CarPlay?

Hi all, pulled the trigger on a 2014 Vanquish from Aston Martin of San Diego! I asked the dealer to install the Aston Apple CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade. Initially they said no problem, however, now they are saying that they can't, and that kit is only for the DB9, Vantage, DBS, and Rapide.

Does anyone know why this kit will not work on a Vanquish, and has anyone had good results with a third party kit?

Thank you!

Aston Installations is an option, but will add a button to your center console. Does your car having streaming Bluetooth audio? If not; that can be added as a module.

I believe the dealer kit only works with AMI3, while the Vanquish before 2016 had AMI2. La Jolla Audio is going to put an OEM-looking kit into my V8V with AMI2.

That aftermarket controller is why I'm not using their kit. The one that my audio shop found hijacks the CAN-bus data from the factory center console-mounted ****, and manipulates the menus via that, giving an OEM look.

.
AMi III already has CarPlay. I believe the dealer kit is for AMi II but is quite expensive as it needs a processor upgrade.

He did mention Vantage.

I'm looking for carplay options but am starting to think letting the phone sit in the phone slot and leaving audio connected via bluetooth is the cheapest and easiest route.

This looks interesting: "unique-ad.co.uk/product/wireless-apple-carplay-android-auto-interface-for-aston-martin-vantage-vanquish-db9-rapide-2012-2017-with-waterfall-dashboard/"

Apparently installs next to the Garmin head unit in the Vanquish trunk, no need to remove the waterfall. Uses car controls with no extra *****/dials/switches.

I installed a similar one (NavTool) in my Rapide last summer and love it. I’m in San Diego and can definitely help you with install if you are a little DIY inclined. It took me a few hours and works like a charm.

wow......I like this one, thank you. The fact that it uses the factory controls is huge for me.

Does that include having streaming Bluetooth audio once NavTool is installed?

CarPlay connects to the iphone (or android) wirelessly, so yes, in essence you can stream music, nav, etc. but it’s done through the interface, not directly through BT. Phone calls can be placed through CarPlay but audio gets sent through the car’s BT system so you can see the call on the screen and use the steering wheel buttons to pick up and end calls. So it’s kind of a hybrid system.

How many hours labor to install around?

I’d say about 5 hours total taking my sweet time. 2 of those spent just figuring out the way to route the wires for the reverse camera from the outside into the trunk area. The install is simple: remove the rear left seat, run a power wire and a reverse cam trigger (from the tail lamp) with the rear cam wires to under the seat and run the aux wire to the center console.
