As of now the V10 r8 has been dropped.... expect the next r8 to show up with V12 Tdi.

 

I had been told the next R8 would be fitted with a V10 TDI, not the NA V10 from the S8. There was talk of a V10 TT (gas) but, I think it burned to the ground during testing!

You really think Audi will take their flagship and detune it?
Not a chance!

You have 2 motors to pick from for the new R8, the V10 or the V10 TT as both are already in production!
Audi is not going to reinvent the wheel, they will supply the car with what ever makes more economical sense. The RS6 is not coming here and we all want it, to satisfy us they will more then likely figure out the temp issue and put that motor in the flagship R8, that is what makes common sense.
I guess its good news we have a new 911TT coming out and the ever more appealing GTR.

There are half a dozen reliable sources out there that identify the V-8 diesel instead of the V-12..the V8 Diesel has 326 hp but probably a lot of torque.
