Just Purchased 2008 S5

Hey guys... I just purchased a 2008 S5 White on Magma red. I am schedule for pick up on saturday. I just wanted to introduce myself to the Audi guys... I have been a memeber here for a while but just lurking. I hope to contribute more with the new ride...

I am purchasing the car private sale and had a few questions. The car is basically brand new. It only has 1800 miles and just a little bit over a year old. I guess it was suppose to be a show car. The owner had purchased a body kit and rims which have been sold. Anyways, what do you guys suggest I check for when picking up the vehicle and giving final payment?

Also, I was at the Audi dealership last week just test driving a new S5. We got to talking and I inquired about extended warrenties. He said not to purchase the extended warrenty as it is not transferrable. But what he did suggest is that I can purchase this warrenty later on if I wanted to as an option. Is that true???

Thanks and I will post pictures as soon as I get a chance!

With only 1800 miles, I would say the only thing you need to check for is if the car has been in any accidents

Sounds like you found a nice car, I bought a 2008 white S5 over terrocota last year and love it. Everything will be covered via the factory warranty, so you should be good. I believe that you can purchase an Audi extended warranty as long as the car is still covered under the original warranty with no accidents. You may want to check on that right away, I also think that the price varies by the age/mileage on the car. The only issues that I have found thus far are:
1. IPOD integration- on some new IPODS, and def the Iphone you will need a different Audi cable to connect (I have no idea why, I wasn't exactly happy to find that out after buying the car)
2. The wind/weather guard under the hood on the passenger side has a connector breaks easily if taken off improperly. It is the large black piece beneath the windshield wiper. They will fix it under warranty without a problem.
3. Allright, i know that this is a bit nit pick, but the engine start/stop button also chips over time. I haven't gotten it replaced yet, but plan to when I take in for service.
No major issues at all, just a few minor things.

I dont know which dealer told you "the extended warranty will not transfer" but here is your best route.

Audi sells a Fidelity/Audi extended warranty. This warranty can fully transfer. Wait till the factory warranty is about to expire and then buy the Audi/Fidelity plan. Dont be confused and get shafted into a private plan that the local dealer may get a higher commission on. Always choose the Audi/Fidelity plan.

Good luck with the car.

I own a 03RS6 which is one of the most expensive cars to service. I also have the Audi/Fidelity plan that takes me out to 2015 and 100k miles so there is no worry about expense 12yrs total down the road. Not a bad deal and the car only has 30k on it so far.

Thanks for that information. Another question. What did the warrenty cost you? Also were you able to negotiate the price or you paid what they asked for it?

Thanks

At the time I purchased the policy. My car was 5yrs old and had 24k miles. I paid 3200 for a 6yr/72k Platinum policy and yes I called around to shop the price.
