r8 Update?

V8 -> V10.
I imagine something around 2013-14 time frame for something major.
(I've been contemplating one, but the wife doesn't like the shifter, and I don't like the automatic, so we are keeping our ears to the rumors of a DCT - and that seems to be point to around 2013).

agreed. normally the midcycle refresh/facelift is 4-5 years after the release of a generation.
so either Audi has no interest to upgrade it, which would be kinda weird or it will be refreshed soon.
i am expecting a dual clutch in the facelifted R8.
the Gallardo was released 2003, it was facelifted in 2008, 5 years later.
the R8 was released 2007, so i guess the facelift could arrive in 2012.

i think the specs sound pretty convincing for a totally new R8 (~2014/2015), the 2nd generation, but not for a midcycle facelft. the future of NA engines are counted but i expect the facelift R8 to keep the NA V8s and V10s, hopefully upgraded with a s-tronic dual clutch tranny.
as soon as some new R8 test mule spy pics etc. are swirling around, u will find them here on the forum.
if Audi has any plans for a facelifted R8, then it will be spotted pretty soon around the Ring etc.

IIRC that's a detuned version of the same engine Audi is dropping in the new S8. Makes sense to share engine across different platforms and tweak for HP gain.

Isn't the "new" 4.2l V8 actually from the RS5, which would actually make it not the old engine, but actually the new one? Confusing, but it's not the old 4.2 V8, it's the one from the RS5, derived from the current 5.2 V10.
