Ferrari 458!!!

Great piece on the Ferrari 458 vs. the Audi R8. My two favorite cars. Photo galleries included!

The 458 is an amazing car - one of the very few that can make the R8 look less than exquisite. If all the other BS you have to put up with to own a new Ferrari weren't an issue, I might be tempted.

Like what? Maintainence is free for 7 years now.
Both cars awesome but I prefer the 458. Then again its a ton more money.

1) Go to nearest Ferrari dealership with cash in hand
2) Tell them you want to buy a new 458
3) See what happens

From someone who owns both:

"
V10 r8 > 458

I've had my R8 for a few months now (MT, Spyder) and absolutely love it - power, steering, feel, shifter, sound, design, etc are all just spot-on. Like many of you, I've had a ton of different cars in my life but the Ferraris are always near the top of the list - with the gt3s, turbos, etc quite a bit further down the fun-to-drive ranking. This is my first R8 (I know, what was I waiting for??) and I knew I would like it but never thought I could like it as much as the 458 - but I absolutely do. It's not quite an equal comparison since the R8 is a convertible (my 458 is a coupe) and it has that beautiful gated shifter with those perfectly spaced 3 pedals, but regardless, I've started to lean towards the R8 each morning R8 is just sick!!"

The BS that used to go along with trying to own a new Ferrari has all but disappeared. Too much of an economic down turn.

I had never bought a Ferrari, let alone walked into a dealer, and secured an order slot for my 2012 California in August 2011. Car arrived 5 months later, actually early. I am now on the list for 458 Spider, less than 2 years out, but love my California so much I may not make the move and simply order another.

I don't think he is saying the R8 is better. He is saying he is grabbing for the keys of his R8 more right now. Two main reasons spring to mind...

1. The R8 is newer to him...and he sounds like a guy who flips cars quick...a.k.a. gets bored with them. Shouldn't be a surprise that he's interested in the newer car more.

2. It's summer, and the R8 is a convertible.
