Whirring noise

My 06 Gt is superbly quiet when sitting in traffic except for a continuous whirring noise somewhere below or behind the dash or maybe in the engine bay. It's not loud but it's beginning to **** me off. It doesn't change with engine speed or road speed but oscillates in tone every few seconds. Rather like someone turning an electric motor on and off continuously. I'm wondering if it's a noisy ABS pump or something similar. Does everyone have the same noise?
Cheers guys

Do you hear it if you shut the HVAC system?

Fuel pump?

Vacuum pump?

I would say blower from your HVAC. It happens here on our benzes on occation. Try changing the speed of the blower and see if it changes.

Hi Neilkf, I would also say change the fan speed next time it happens. Hope this is helpful, Tim

It's definitely not fan noise. Everything that can be shut down from the dash has been turned off. It may well be fuel or vac pump or maybe even air ride pump but should it be so audible in a £130K car with 6k miles?

No it should not be audible but sometimes that will happen and it takes a while to find.

It can be assimple as a mount that has loosened from some motor or component.

Try to identify the location.

I had an annoying vibration in my 530i BMW. It tuned out to be a plastic seat rail cover in the back of the passenger seat.

So, these annoying issuses are sometimes tough to find.

Yours is probably associated with an HVAC valve, flap motor, etc.
