Remove headliner at dealer or do it myself?

So my headliner is sagging in the GT and the dealer quoutes me $1,500 for the repair.

I have the Bentley Service DVD with instructions on how to remove it but since I am very good with my hands, I feel comfortable following the instructions however I dont know what I will be getting into.

Should I take it to Bentley for the repair or should I try to remove it myself?

I can take the removed headliner to a shop for regluing for $500.00 and save the 1K. The shop said, "just go to Bentley they know what their doing and it comes with warranty"

Opinions from anyone who has tried this task themselves? Would greatly appreciate feedback

Dealer stealer mine was sagging and i was also quoted 2k+, but then i went to a local upholstery shop and got it done for $400. it was fairly easy when I saw the guy taking it out but i wouldn't want to try it out myself, but If you have all the instructions it wouldn't hurt to try out i guess! It has been about 2 years and its still like new! good luck

I paid local shop 500

They had to remove the foam from the board and Install new foam
The leather would not stick to old foam

I also had mine done due to sagging by my local shop. As long as the leather is in good soft condition you should be good to go.

This local shop, did you ask them about whether or not they have worked on bentleys before?

Yes, it was TopStitch a sponsor on 6Speed. They are a local shop which has done a lot of Bentley's including all of my interior. A very respected shop in the So. Cal. area.

Headliner

I was just at my local trim shop. They are first-rate. They have done a lot of custom work for Chip Foose. They just finished doing a Bentley CGT headliner and said that it took them 3.5 hours to remove the headliner and about 3 hours to re-install it. This time did not include the work they did on the headliner when they had it out. Based upon what they told me, I really don't think this is an ideal DIY project.
