Your steadfast perseverance on this project is simply amazing?
How did you obtain all of this knowledge to take on a monumental project like this?
Hello @MAUMAU ,
Thank you, as far as knowledge, well I started at age 8 almost 51 years ago cleaning cars at my family's car sales business, soon doing tune-ups, then onto frame off collision rebuilding along with unitized bodies, we also did a lot of interior swapping, and I did a lot of repairs on electronics, the Cadillac V8-6-4 was a great idea, if GM had only left it as the designer designed it, all vacuum, no electronics, but GM loaded it with electronics and the engine only lasted a model year iirc, we did a lot of Lincolns also, but we got out of the car business in around 1984, but we kept the lots and one is still a car lot today, everytime I have to see the tenants I have some great memories there, we then went on to build our shopping center and opened it December of 85, I still run it today, but back then I was managing the center while dad and my brothers went up to start our first subdivision, I in-turn stayed at the center to build out a Golds Gym in our lower level, when it came to the HVAC, dad said "you are doing it, figure it out", so I did, I then went up to the subdivision where we had 3 different properties all adjoining each other where we put in over 75 homes, dad purchased old equipment for excavation which we all repaired and used, we did all the road work such as piping, catch basin, detention ponds, head walls, cutting and grading of the road for blacktop, etc, some of that old old equipment came up from the shopping center job and is still in use today, I mention all of this because my Dad always still today will say that he taught me everything, I smile and say, you told me to do everything, along with figure it out, so he says "well, I taught you to figure things out", and we laugh, sometimes, so because of my learning I was given the job of all HVAC, finish plumbing, and finish electrical, oh the joy 😂 ,but at least I can take care of any thing in the house, or fix any vehicle issues, I can't wait to start 106 townhouses and 28 apartment unit, at 59 I am hiring helpers this go around..
Yes, I need a haircut and a diet..

Ok, so as many of you know, I had picked up 2 Bentley W12TT engines and 2 or 3 transmissions, I started on the 2014 W12 wiring harness as the 2012 or so and newer harness will NOT plug into any older vehicles, plug ends changed on the engine itself which would not be a problem as it's on the engine, but the issue was that the vehicle end of the engine wiring harness to the ecu's changed, and one could not swap out the ecu's to match the engine harness side because then the newer designed ecu's would not match the vehicle end plugs, so I removed the complete 2014 harness from its engine and took the 2007-08 engine harness from the other engine in the package deal I purchased, I replaced all the plug ends needed to make it fit the 2014 engine, with only 2 snags, how to mount the sensors at the bottom of the turbo chargers that my 2007 ecu's required but the 2010 and up no longer used, and therefore did not have the 2 mounting studs on either turbo for said sensors, no biggie, I would figure that out, but also there was the difference in the new fuel delivery system whereas there is no longer a fuel return line nor a pressure regulator on the fuel rail, as the new system has variable speed fuel pumps, whereas my vehicle has one speed, on and off, with the pressure regulator to send pressure/flow back to the tank, again no biggie, I got the parts needed to add the return fuel line and a very nice pressure regulator and gauge, my issue was and still is, that while I was doing all of this, I had/have this problem going around in my head about this engine, why, because a gentleman had contacted me about the other engine in the package but he only wanted the block, I really didn't want to waste a good engine, but either way I was going to test it for oil pressure and compression test before I broke it down, well the 2008 did not have good oil pressure at all while cranking the engine with all 12 spark plugs out, and had low compression on one cylinder, yet the oil on the dip stick and from the oil pan drain plug looked good, but to good, too clean, so I pulled the filter and found a mess, so I broke that 2008 engine down, number 1 rod bearing and journal were wiped, so I sold the block to him with some other parts, he was like a heaven sent gift, I then sold some pistons and rods from it to a gentleman in Vietnam, along with the AC compressor, oil filter housing and oil cooler, oil pan, to some here in the USA, SIDE NOTE, during this time I also broke down my seized 2005 flood engine and sold the crankshaft, rods, wrist pins, and all bearings to a gentleman in Spain, note: the 2005 engines crankshaft has a double sprocket to drive the double wide chain to drive the cam shafts, instead of the single chain of the 2006 and up, back to the 2014, so because of all this I lost faith in the information I was given by the Bentley dealership whom supposedly had this engine and transmission for a 2014 vehicle, I sent oil samples out to Foley Machinery for testing, it came back "great" like the oil just came out of the bottle, the filter was like new they said, and only the first amount out of the pan showed shimmer to me, the tech at Foley told me that was normal, but the fine shimmer in the plastic oil filter housing concerned me, she also said it should be okay, as it was like break-in particles, BUT, because they had no history/prior testing of this engines oil they could not be sure, so I procrastinated and couldn't pull myself to go through all the work of the install only to find out that this engine is bad, the stories went from its a demo engine, it did have a "property of Act Media" sticker/label on it, to it is brand new involved in a freight truck accident and sold at auction, that is how I got it, and the crates do have damage from some sort of accident, to both the engine and transmission are from the Bentley dealership i spoke with and whose name is on the crates where there service manager stated that a customer with a 2014 (he would not tell me the model) Bentley had a vibration complaint, so they put some shields on the transmission itself to dampen the problem, the customer still complained, so they put a new transmission in, still no good, so they did a complete engine replacement, when I questioned to if that solved the issue he got defensive and then turned on me asking for all my information and how and what was i doing with these engines and transmissions, I explained that they were sold at auction by the insurance company after the freight truck accident and he said it was Bentley's property and was to be destroyed as no one is allowed to sell new, used, or damaged Bentley parts like the engine and transmission, I said, "do you know how many Bentley engines and transmissions are for sale online, just look at eBay, he said "that's not right, Bentley parts are not to be sold like that", of course I laughed and politely said goodbye, which left me stymied as the 2014 had good compression on all cylinders, and has good oil pressure as shown in the video.
So here are some pictures of the 2008 and 2014.
Next post will be what I have right now, and it is going in !!

So,
I bit the bullet and purchased a matching engine, transmission, ECU'S, Instrument cluster, and the air filter housings with mass air flow sensors from a 2011 Bentley GT SuperSports with 11,900 miles on the clock !
They all got delivered this past Friday, and I went right to work replacing the damaged pieces.,
It had a small hole in the left side valve cover, a cracked oil filter cooler housing, and the seller took the turbos off to sell separately...
Being I have the 2014 turbos and all associated hoses for the turbos oil lines, I used them, the valve cover I had from the 2008 brake down, I also changed out all the hose from the 2014 to the 2011, as the 2014 everything looks brand new...
I think I'll even take the serpentine belt 😁
So now I have all I need and have been working at it each night, what a job putting the turbos on, taking them off is one thing, but going back together, man things are tight !
This time I demanded a 60 warranty, and got it.
Hello All,
Please be sure to go back to post #155 to get my full update as of yesterday November 11 2020, as I made 13 posts in this thread yesterday to keep each item separate and clear for easier response or quoting of each given item.
Many thanks for the rear inside panel removal photos. Have had one remaining 'intermittent' DTC on the passenger side (US model) tweeter via VAG-COM scans on a few occasion. This will really help make short work of checking the connections and testing the tweeter with an ohm meter.
