Bentley GT 2006,Speaker wiring colour codes
i never named my cars, but I did have a Turbo Lotus Esprit twenty years ago that smells exactly (and I mean exactly) the same as the Bentley. Must be either the same leather supplier or the same leather treatment. Gives me flashbacks. That Lotus got up and went, but it was the most unreliable car I have ever owned, and that's saying something.

Well, wait to order the speakers until I'm sure these damn things fit, I figured they did, since my installer recommended them, but who knows? They need an adapter to fit into the 6x9 well.
I bought the Ben Hur over the phone (they called me after I enquired about not getting charged the VAT). It cost $2,189 including shipping (just clicking the "add to cart" is $2,499 on the website). Still too expensive, but $300 is $300 amiright?
Next are the speakers. These are sold in a box as a "component set". They seem to be exactly half price across the pond. My installer quoted something like $399 per for just one 6.5".
I bought the PS 165 F3 set (I guess the best there are, but I'm brand new to this). I actually bought two sets, it will replace my two front tweeters, two 6x9s, two 3" mids and two rear 3". I'm missing the rear tweeters. Here in the States, on Ebay, this retails for $1,299, I bought two from the U.K. for $1,079 including shipping. Seems like a great deal.
Go to ebay.uk and search for PS 165 F3, the vendor I used was caraudiosecurity.com, they had eight thousand good reviews. I tried ebay France, but they won't ship to the U.S. (makes sense if they're gouging U.S. people.)
Apparently, the tweeters come with two cases, the first is normal, the second is that weird bullet-looking thing that I can't imagine using.
These speakers have great reviews and two shops (one on Youtube, one I visited) said they're the best-selling high-end speakers, so I don't think I went wrong. Unless, of course, they don't fit. But if they don't, I can sell them for what I bought them for, or even more, so I'm not worried too much.
I still haven't decided what to do about the sub. either I install one in the ski pass-through, or I found a focal fully powered "under-the-seat" thin sub that if I put two in, one under each seat, I won't lose trunk space. This is my first choice, but I have zero idea if it will fit under the powered seat.

Here is the link to the speakers I bought (remember, wait until they show up and I find that they work before you click "buy")

And I had a math error in the previous post, the speaker set replaces the tweeters, >both< big door speakers and the small door speaker and the small speakers in the rear. You'll need two more tweeters to replace everything.
The Ben Hur guy, my installer and one of the posters on here all said that the original Bentley radios were not good. Someone on here also said that you really need to change all of the speakers.
My only worry is the power amp. Is my original Bentley power amp junk, or not powerful enough to power these big speakers? If so, I need a 12 channel amp and that is crazy complicated and rare. A second installer admitted to me that most Bentley owners just change the Ben Hur and radio and leave everything else the same because of the complexity. Although when he said, "most", I sort of read it to be, "The only other Bentley I've worked on did this", so it would be technically true.

If thats the way you want to go fitting Focal's then sure go for it. Replacing the 6 x 9 to a 6.5 is easy, you need to take a template from the 6 x 9 and get someone to make you a front plate for the 6.5 to fit in, then the place it into the space were the 6 x 9 was, don't forget to mark out the screw holes, 5mm ply will do the job and paint it black ... job done. As for the rear tweeters yah them funny looking ones you never going to get them in, well not under the side window ... the sub is a good idea if you don't want to play around with the ski hatch, what ever suits you ... Cool ...
You don't need a 12 channel amp, only 6, and no its not complicated to add amps or to change the speakers as long as one knows what they doing ... Lol

I searched and searched and everything was $2,500, the U.S. resellers, and Nav TV. I think it's a ripoff, but then again, I really need to modernize this radio.
Well, to be fair, two of us asked you where you bought it so cheap and you never answered, so I figured that deal was gone.

Yah looks cool, its not the most powerful sub but it will do the job, the only thing is it sits right under your seat & to be fair it not an idel place I would want a sub, have you sat in a demo vehicle to see how it sounds & if there is any vibration coming up into the seat, the last thing you need is vibrations in ones bum ... Lol
I'll be posting my full install as soon as I'm able to do so, still waiting for the amp box which I've designed & helping to build it. then I'm ready to install ...

The only reason I bought mines. I needed Bluetooth and Xm radio and might as well change it instead of adding all this extra stuff to get the same features.
Have you guys sorted out how you going to do the PDC Beeps ...
Just to make sure now its seems like its a big deal who said what & why, I did mention what I said on the 03-04-19 @ 03.25pm ... Just making sure I wasn't imagining it ...

If you look further you will find I mentioned what I said earlier, I can recall mentioning I know the guy who designed the BenHur ...

ohhh yea....I called an installer by me today and he mentions that the last time he ordered the Focals f3’s, they were under $800. Now if you all want to go with the bees knees of Focal, go grab a set of Utopia components 😉
Lol not a big deal, it’s more so you have an inside plug on it while we have to pay full price. By you mentioning we paid too much, you bought yours a lot cheaper is (just my opinion) kind of rubbing it in. I mean if your guy is willing to give anyone in this group your special cost in the future that would surely be very patriotic of him . But it’s all good. Everyone can’t know the hook up man.
