Fluid Motor Union. They seem sharp and think it might be just a disconnected connector from when the headliner was repaired. otherwise $840, not bad considering the $1,800 I've seen on these boards.

Here is the code that might indicate a connector? I don't know enough yet about codes:

Address 05: Acc/Start Auth.
XXXX 2 Faults Found: 01176 - Key
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
01308 - Control Module for Roof Electronics (J528)
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

And then this:

01503 - Bulb for 3rd Brake Light (M25)

009 - Open or Short to Ground

Indeed a disconnected wire would meet an open circuit DTC. The light fixture itself being burned out would be an open circuit as well. A closed circuit is the positive and negative terminals from the battery to the light are making proper contact and illumination. Should one wire be disconnected say from the headliner repair open circuit. An open circuit if the bulb was burnt out because it is not making proper contact internally another open circuit.

My Phaeton is over at FMU right now. If they do a good job I'll take the Bentley there when it needs something. They've been super-responsive and helpful.

Please let me know how they do with your car and tell them I said "hi"!

will do.

Here’s a question: does the whole headliner have to come down, or just the rear overhead module?
