2006 gt. Vdcs 34 level control

So I joined the Ross Tech forum and tried to get a little info on my situation before I have Bentley come pick it up Monday.

A little back ground, I did some front end work and now it will not level out to normal. I can’t input any values or change anything.
So I posted the info on the site and received a reply but I don’t really know what he’s meaning. So I would appreciate if anyone could give it to me in layman terms please.

THE REPLY:

Verify basic mechanical settings of control arms to ride height sensors are set proper.

They can be manually repositioned to raise or lower the vehicle using the RTFB and a ruler.

Communication with J523 must be corrected using WD and RTFB.

I tried to look up RTFB and hope that’s not what he’s saying.

Supply voltage and terminal 30 must be verified, corrected or addressed.

Try using the level control and cycle it up and down a few times - maybe it'll sync properly.

I have tried this over 10 times lol. It will release the air in the struts then fill them back up. Then I can start to input the measurements, when at first I would get to the last tire and it would give an error message now I can’t even do the second. If I have time today I’ll try to do a video on it. If I can just fix these error codes I think I will be able to get some headway.

Sometimes when we take things apart they don't always go back together the way we expect, gumption traps. Congratulations on taking on such a project, we've all been down this road. Anyway I believe the first trouble code referring to the j523 is your informant system. Perhaps you already know this but I thought I would point that out.

Perhaps there's others with clear understanding of his system?

Yea...I replaced the radio and knew I would have a few error codes in that department. But now I’m starting to think that I may have to install the factory radio to see if this all is anyway linked together. That maybe the system has to “talk” to the radio to get an all systems go then perform the task at hand. I have to work 3-11’s today so it looks like I’ll be up till 3 am tonight 🤦🏾
————————————————————————

Well I went and replaced the radio before I left for work and that’s not a issue. Then I did the release and fill of the struts and reserve and they all operated as they should. My only thought left is what the poster from Ross Tech said about adjusting the control arm but at this point it’s in Bentley’s hand. When I get it back I will post their finding.

Just spitballing - did you disconnect the level height sensors when you did your suspension work? Possible the connectors did not get reattached/seated properly on reinstall so that one or more of the four is not reporting in? I also understand its possible to bolt the sensor arm to the suspension control arm backwards....

Small update..Bentley called and said they were “locked out” of the module and can’t do anything and have to dig deeper into it. Has anyone heard of this before?

This could be a long shot. Possibly the Bentley has a similar system? Evidently on the Audi this caused a lockout.

I’ll pass it on. In the initial start of the adaptation, it does drop front and rear and fill back up to the last position. Thank you

Ok...as I promised I try to come back to post I started to give an update.

Well according to Bentley, my rear two height adjustments sensors were bent. He said whoever had it before me might have had 24’s on it and bent them so the car sat high (his conclusion not mines). I don’t know. That’s something I know I would have never thought to look at as I wouldn’t know what “bent” one look like.

Also he said the module was locked out and they had to make some adjustments to get back in it. (That might have been on me). They had it for about 7 days. Honestly I don’t know if I had any roll in them being bent, when I did my front end work and had the front jacked up for about 3 weeks. I will now jack the entire car up since I don’t have access to a 4 point lift if I’m going to have it up for an extended period of time. Now that that’s done, on to the audio part of my car.

oh..the mechanic did say I did a good job on the front end work but my struts gets low after about 2/3 days of sitting 😡
I just changed them damn things. I hope the air hose just needs to be pushed in a little more. 🤞🏾

Glad that it all worked out. The car saga, live a little learn a little. By the way spritzing soapy water on the air suspension fittings will reveal any minor leaks

On a side note re: suspension I store my car in the winter with the tires and suspension not under load. Probably the worst thing for these cars is just sitting there getting flat spots on the tires and compressing the bellows in the air struts. Also make a habit of putting the suspension in high mode occasionally so the rubber doesn't develop memory and wear in one place. My B sleeps set in the high suspension mode, during the summer months.
