Garage opener

Has anyone ever gotten their first gen to work with their garage opener? I can’t for the life of me get mines to sync up and it’s a pain in the butt to use the remote because of the double pane glass.

Hi peeps - this thread from the Phaeton forum might be helpful. I know the 1st gen cars use the same homelink system as the Phaeton. Don't know about later cars...

This is kind of funny/mildly infuriating to me. My car is valet parked and the valets keep an RFID on their uniforms and the doors go up and down as they approach. But not in the Bentley! I've seen the poor guys have to lower the side windows, then open the door, then lean waaay out the door for it to go up.

I just brag about the special "bulletproof" glass on the side windows, I claim it's double to protect against smaller-caliber weapons. I mean, it might be sorta true, right?

I haven't driven it in two months, I'm sheltering out of town. The valets won't "drive" it, only start it and let it run. Finally I had our housekeeper take it out for a 30 minute spin, she didn't even know I owned a Bentley and was in for a surprise when she got handed the GT. She took it on a thirty-minute drive, I asked her (well, my wife did) to "open it up" a couple of times to exercise the waste gates. Great news, the batteries were charged and no check engine light.

I assume I've made the "Kooky guy" list on the Polish-immigrant housekeeper union, but I really wanted the car driven. It would be a royal P.I.T.A. to deal with dead batteries in my situation.

I'm going to try to get the valets permission to take it out once per week until I get back. I know everyone thinks of valets like in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, taking jumps in the Ferrari, but reality is different, these guys are union members that have no interest in putting their jobs at risk by damaging an expensive car. That's one of the reason valets often leave Bentleys and Ferraris in the front of a restaurant...they don't have to drive it and leave it out of their sight.

I have my gen 1 working with a liftmaster garage door opener. As I recall, when programming, I had to hold the original transmitter at the bottom of the a pillar, from the inside of the car, on the passenger side to program the unit.

Trying to get mine (2004) to work .H book says behind the trim top RHS of the pillar , is the place to aim .
The B mirror base has vents equally on both sides and in the middle so symmetrical, unlike the vents on the mirror base in the Phaeton link above .
How ever I can’t get past base 1 ....getting the three buttons to slow flash .
Sure have a second hand on my watch to stare at .
Pressing 1+3 simultaneously for over 20 sec clears existing frequency codes according to the book , and holding any one down for 20 + secs makes that one ready to receive the Fq from your fob .The slow flash turns to rapid when it’s connected according to the book .

But I can’t even get mine to slow flash ? Holding then down for 20 secs + does diddly squat !

They illuminate the numbers when you open a door or turn on the ignition so I presume the LEDs have power ?
Can’t find which fuse either the “ home link “ unit is on either ...hand book is silent .
Book has obscure fuses like “ tilt sensor “ and trunk cigar socket “ listed separately and so on ......just surprised no mention of “ home link “ .

So I gave up !
It’s been parked on a trickle charger ( lockdown) and it’s last run out was about 14 days ago .

After several failed attempts turning the ignition on / off ( book says ignition needs to on but engine off btw ) about 1/2 hr in started to get spurious warning lights a la Christmas tree look on the dash ...the EPB warning , skid control , CEL , “ air suspension faulty see workshop “ sequentially started to chime in = bats drainage dropping .

So I started it up and ran it for 1/2 hr parked up and the lights that shouldn’t be there disappeared .

It’s now back on its trickle charger behaving it’s self .

But won’t play ball with the home link .

Just spent 45 mins trying to get this stupid thing to work! No go... I have a Legacy 850 lift. Between placing that in learn mode/programming and the Bentley overhead it’s a freaking mess. I’m just ready to say this freaking thing don’t work with rolling codes. Might be time to upgrade cars 😂

Same here, I tried again last week with mine. I get the the 3 lights flashing fast / then slowly (ready to accept the code), then set the garage to "learn mode" = the 3 lights wont do much more than flash slowly. I gave it thirty minutes and Ive decided after watching several how to online videos, to never touch the thing again.

fyi... not sure if this will help, but found my old files and this is what worked for me, from VWVortex forum... appears to be post #34 from the same link above.

....

The principle is this : Program the Homelink with your remote's signal first then train your revolving code door. Aim remote at rear view mirror.

1. You do not have to be in the garage. Do this 5 feet way from garage door outside

1.a Turn car on put you present remote in your right hand be prepared to point it at the mirror (NOT THE HOMELINK!!!)

2 Press 1 & 3 with left hand until it flashes rapidly (~20secs) as soon as it rapid flashes you are in programming mode for a brief time so Quickly after it flashes press the key you want (I don't think I held it down but keep this in mind) Say PRESS ONE then quickly

3 with your right hand aim the remote to the mirror and press for 2 seconds release press for 2 secs release press for 2 secs release (yes that is 3 times)

4. wait for 60 secs

You have trained the homelink to be like your regular remote at the proper frequency frequency Now you must get the Liftmaster/rolling codes to recognize the Homelink remote.

5 go to your garage door opener (get on the ladder folks) find the TRAIN button and press once quicky (do not hold for >1 or you will clear the memory)

6. Quickly run down the ladder (you have 30 secs usually) better yet have someone else in the car and

7 push the homelink (one) button you just programmed 1.5 minutes before until garage opener responds usually in 2 secs with a flash of the Lifter's lights.

Done
.....

I understand your problem, I gave up after 2 months of trying to synchronize all the mechanisms.

I admire you guys; I didn't even try to do it myself. For me, it's just something beyond understanding because no matter how often I fix something in the house, I always make it worse. My wife has long been used to the fact that it is much easier for me to earn money and pay the builders to do everything than to try to do something with my own hands. I also did this in a situation with roller doors for my garage. I just found the guys from the new garage door service, and they did all the work for me. I think you can also contact them if you have any problems with your doors; these guys are great professionals in their field and can definitely help you.
