How to Set Jack Mode
How to Set Jack Mode
Was tubing around YouTube and came across this gem.
Apparently this needs to be done before jacking the car to prevent damage to the suspension lift system.

Did it really needed a five minute video to explain something that every Conti GT owner should be aware of by simply reading the owner's manual before driving the car?
I find it truly terrifying that the existence of Jack Mode should come as a surprise to any existing CGT owner.

And what is with the hideous shifter boot as shown in the video.... 🤢🤮🤢

Yes it pretty incredible the amount of ignorance ( I mean that politely ) displayed by owners .
All VAG air sprung cars require “Jack mode “ Most tyre shops are aware as U.K. MOT centres .
For the avoidance of doubt I place a copy of the page in the hand book in the shifter, so they know exactly what to do .
The battery tender issue is another , as is the scuttle drains and air con drip pan .
Theses are not park and forget cars , they are hands on cars .

I forgot to set jack mode once, I had done it before, just completely forgot. Lowered the car to find it sink all the way to the ground. Luckily, it was able to level itself back and does not seem to have done any lasting damage.
I find it a bit disconcerting that people get upset because someone is nice enough to take the time to make a video so that people do not make a mistake with their car. I just bought a 2007 Bentley GTC and of course, it came without an owners manual. It is good when I learn something else about the car. I have tried to learn on the Internet but of course, this is one of the few cars that does not have any postings about the operation of the car. The only choice one can apparently have is to pay $700 for an owner's manual!
I have a Aston Martin, Mercedes SL, Jaguar XK8, MGB and Corvette C7 and all of them have total information and owner's manuals that can be downloaded from the Internet. I made a mistake, as I should have ordered a owner's manual immediately but I ordered a jar of Grey Poupon instead! My mistake!

This is not your only option, around $10 will buy you a cd manual from ebay.
I would lighten up on any new owner of a second hand late vintage Bentley. My 2013 came with the 300 page manual.
I went to college, but I find it incoherent in a number of places, there are errors in the illustration reference numbers,
and absolutely too much information in areas of little interest or application.
Certain things like the jack mode, removing a wheel, setting the blue tooth for our iphone, are things that a new,
naive owner would need some help in mastering. Once you know the steps, that's fine, but it's not exactly common
sense in this over engineered car. I suppose if you buy one new a dealer would/should walk you through some of
this, but as most readers on this blog buy second hand, we don't get that hand holding with the purchase.
