Exhaust Temp Bank 1

Hi All,

In an earlier post I listed a VCDS Scan which turned up a few codes. The one I could use some help is 001348 - Sensor 1 for Exhaust Temp Bank 1 (G235). I've read up on this a bit and it looks like the biggest problem is breaking the sensor when trying to remove. I suppose I will know better once I get into it if I need to apply heat or if it will come off without.

The bigger question is where is this located?? What side is bank 1 on? My vehicle is a 2011 GTC US version (steering on left)
Question 2. I've read this can be cleaned off and will work? Seems plausible if you can actually get it removed. What are the collective thoughts.
Also, depending on location is this easier to get to when i have the intake removed? I will also be changing plugs and coils.

Thanks for the help

Its reaIy good and explains the heat issues our engines have. He shows you where the EGT sensors are ans why they are where they are. Have a look at the whole Gentleman project. Fascinating!

Looking from the front (hood) to back. Bank 1 is on the left. That's uk drivers side or US passenger side. No matter which side the steering , bank 1 will be the left side looking front to rear.

thanks again Frank. I ordered it last night. Also need to do plugs and coils so I’ll do all of it together and will let you know how I make out. Hopefully that clears all the codes

Good one. Yes, let us all know how it went. Quite interested to see the egt sensor removal. Are you doing a video or photo's ?

I think the plugs and coil change is going to surprise you that its not a hard job. I haven't done it but I have watched it done on UTube many many times. I think the hardest bit will be working out how the electrical plugs come off all the hidden sensors etc that you can't see clearly.
I always seem to find pulling plugs off connectors or sensors frustrating . There are so many different types.

ive probably watched the same videos and agree about the connectors. I always mess them up. The only positive is it’s warming up in New England and the garage is heated. I’ll plan a full Saturday to the plugs, coils and ETS.
