gt 2004 retrofiting options - rear camera

Hello!
I've retrofited a lot of options from more recent bentley, like doors soft close, motorized trunk opening (really hard, but worth it), heated 3-spoke stearing wheel, and all modules for it(stil looking how to increase temp), hybrid tv tuner, and installed 2 av-inputs(looking how to activate video in motion).
now there are a few options that are really hard to obdain - rear camera working, pdc screen, quickshift like on supersports, and air ventilated seats (i'll try to combine parts with phaeton seats).
So, about rear camera. I've installed it from 2006 car with wires, but, vsds don't see it. ****. Ok, i've changed driver panel( 3W0920840) with integrated gateway from the same car that camera. still nothing. i've tried different modules - nothing. I've put mine to another car - it works ok. mystic, only explanation is that something wrong with wires. BUT, when i tried drivers panel 3W0920841C, vsds "saw" that module, and activated Can protocol, before that it was KWP2000. But, still not working. Vsds tells that firmware of block is incorect, but sensors are working ok (like rear gear sensor, etc) and i cant use proper coding. and for now this is not main problem ) now i don't see turn signal repeaters on panel, but turn signals workong propertly. rele was tested and working ok. also sometimes i see "overheating screen", but sensor and gauge is ok. And i don't even know what to do. Variants - adaptation of drivers panel (needs code and info), compare pinouts of panels and maybe re pin it. and about camera - to try another controle module. crap. And i`m not sure that head unit will work with it )) still in vsds there is only 07 block "zab cockpit" and no seperate block for headunit.

i'm trying to have all options with OEM hardware, i realise that any headunit, even that tesla style will give all that stuf, but i don't want it. stock interior is really beutifull.

Have you had any luck with this? I want to do the same thing. My trunk doesnt seem to have the camera control harness but i do have the telephone and the TV tuner harnesses. The Audi control module (same part number as Bentley) is very cheap. I'm sure I can make this work. Just curious if you figured it out. Also curious about quickshift.

Why does the dashboard have anything to do with the camera module? I saw that in the wiring of the canbus and I cant understand the reason for that.

@molphar ,
This is the thread I was looking for, I meant to tell you back in June that I went through this back in December 2020 when I had installed the Supersports engine, transmission, ecu's, and the Instrument cluster.

From my understanding, the Instrument cluster itself is the gateway, regardless of 2004 or 2010, I ran into the same issue of no repeater for the turn signals, iirc they would blink once,, or only make the sound once, each time they were turned on, there was something else, I think that the "CRUISE" would not illuminate either with the newer cluster.

So I removed all the needles and swapped the faces and installed the 2006 cluster back in the vehicle, now everything works on the cluster, and I have the Supersports gauges.

Well so far I have installed the rear camera module using the wires from the unusable TV harness, repined the connector to the infotainment screen to match what would be the wiring for the back up camera harness. That was a good amount of work, especially trying to figure out the pinouts for everything but I am 95% confident I have it all right. Thats where it stands as of right now. VCDS is not seeing the camera module. So I don't know if I have to code something or if I have the canbus wiring wrong. Still working on this invention.

@Copperline ,
I do not have it with me right now to test, but if you go into #7 = control head, click on coding,, then hover over the empty field where you would input the coding, a balloon should pop up giving you options, I am almost 100% that 07 is where I changed the code to say that the vehicle had the TV tuner installed, it took the code, and then gave me a fault for no TV tuner installed 😉

PLEASE be sure to write down the coding shown prior to you changing anything, so you may revert back if needed.

Other control addresses to check in the same manner would be as follows.

09=Cent. Elect.

19= Can Gateway

46= Central Conv

76=Park Assist

Good luck !

Johnny

What i think I need is to tell it that i now have a camera module installed. I just used the existing wires from the TV harness.

I would agree, and I believe that is done in one of the addresses I listed above.

@Johnny Hotspur GT ,
Oh i see, same trouble.
I discovered that there were no difference in pinout, So i have no idea why it is not working.
Trouble is that mine in 2004 without icon of wheel heater ) and when it is installed i can't call rear camera module using VSDS. When i install 2006 cluster i have errors with red "overheating" error and beeping. So, i'll try to resolve this with 3D0937049M Onboard supply control unit. But still, i don't know. Interesting thing that clusters accourding to part numbers are changeble, so i think question is in adapting it. So it is the way for cluster to "know" in what exactly version it is installed. But it is just fantasies about ) ill check this out sooner or later) I want to make my dream car ))
And there is one more crazy idea. Seats ventilation ))) it is for the desert ))
Thank your for you informative answers, so cool to see someone goes this way upgrading his car )
