Shipped car to me, no start - help
Good day
I somewhat recently purchased a new to me 2006 Continental GT from BAT.
I had the car shipped across the country (Canada) to me and upon it's arrival to me it was dead.
When they initially tried to unload it rolled over but the batteries gave out, no charge, I came to find out it needed a boost when the transporter who brought it the last leg needed to boost it to get it on the truck.
We installed two new batteries already as a safeguard - we have lights and power, no obvious fuses out, it will not turn over or even click at all.
We have a "steering defective - workshop" coming up with key in.
Any help is appreciated.

we have the steering fault message so we are working to replace/fix the actuator under the steering wheel to see if that will allow us to start it.
replacing the relays on the board first then will just replace the whole mechanism if that doesn’t work.
July 18th update
I've replaced the relays on the board on the steering lock mechanism. Did not work.
I have now replaced the steering lock mechanism in its entirety and still have no start and steering fault on dash.
We do not have accessory power either, not sure I mentioned that, such as no ability to put up the windows, or disengage the parking brake which is a nuisance as we can't put the car outside at all.
Any ideas or input on where to go next is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Discouraged Bentley owner - Jason

Hello ..welcome to the Bentley challenge,
A proper scan with a RossTech VCDS would help. This item is available from RossTech and is not to be confused with the generic obd2 under dash scanners.
There is a Kessey module under the US driver's side carpet. Pull this unit and check for water damage.
An internet search regarding "Bentley Kessey unit wet" and "Ross Tech VCDS" will help move this query along.

Hello @janaka1 ,
One point of concern is the fact that you replaced the steering column lock/module, what did you replace it with, a used part, or a new part, if new, was it done at the Bentley dealership ?
One can not just replace it with a used part, as the steering lock module, KESSY module, engine ECU'S, must all be matched from the factory, one can try with Ross-Tech VCDS to adapt the used lock module by the adaption process, I did the same when I replaced my original (parts vehicle) steering column, I had all matching parts, but my steering column had play and grinding noise, so I got another from a yard, I did the adaption with RT, but the adaption would only last one start cycle, I ended up cutting the anti-theft shield off on the column in the vehicle, removing the mechanism and unlocking the column by hand, I then plugged my matching lock module board in under the dash.
As far as no power, that would have been my first check point before even touching the steering column lock module, there are many fuses to check, along with all of the mega fuses, even flat bar fuses on the top of the starter battery (right side), be sure to check all mega fuses on the left side house battery enclosure, along with power to all fuses in the driver's side facia fuse box, and the E-box under the hood in the cowl area.
As 1eapplebaum said, a scan is needed for greater details, and not a generic scan, a Ross-Tech VCDS or ODIS VAS 5054 scan.
See attached fuse layout.

It seems we have turned a corner - we no longer have the 'steering fault' but have the immobilizer notice.
I will share the fuse manual with the tech (non Bentley tech, no Dealership within 12hours of us). I have been assured he's tested them though and no blown fuses.
He has applied power to the starter pole and the engine does turn over, so we know that's working at least.
They do not have either of the scanners listed in the shop but have ordered a scanner for it so we'll see how that progresses. Slow and steady (painful) seems to be the way.

I will have them look at the Kessey but this failure occured post shipment in an enclosed trailer, I can't imagine that's the issue but we will investigate. I have seen this pop up on many searches as well. Thank you.
