Even less impressive then your 2003 m3? The E92 M3 is a beast, it may not be the fastest car on the road or the most torquey, but no BMW has ever been. You have to appreciate the cars for what they are. Too many people were expecting M5 performance out of the M3.

C63 > M3 though any day. I still give credit where it's due, the M3 is still a very fun car.

I love my car because even though its ~3500 lbs, it doesn't feel like it is. The E92 felt massive and heavy...it felt more like a GT car than a sports-car. The car only had 17 miles on it so I didn't take it to redline but it didn't feel ALL THAT much faster than the E46 either...I was just totally unimpressed. The sound the car makes is just about the only reason to get one...it does sound great

I felt the opposite actually. The car felt a lot lighter then it actually was, just like the M5 feels. The quality was also much better inside and out. It also felt much faster in every gear then the E46. I think you're just biased and would gladly take one if it were given to you. There is no comparison. The E92 is a better car in every way, except the weight which is unavoidable in any modern car these days, but like I said you can't feel it. The car is very well balanced.

I'm not a E92 fan boy either, I'm looking to get into a C63 AMG actually.

I think Josh has a 2002 M3. Actually the numbers on the M3 is not much slower than the M5. It's .1 second slower on 0-60 and 1/4 mile than the M5.

I've driven them both, there is no comparison. The M5 feels much faster. The 0-60 and 1/4 times may be close, but in the real world on the street the M5 will be faster every time.

I'm sure the M5 does feel faster, but with the extra 500 lbs, the number on paper is still .1 second faster than the M3. That, to me, is not much of a difference. I think we should always factor in the weight of the vehicle because it doesn't matter how much more hp the car has, weight will always play a big factor in its performance.

On a similar note, all of Ferrari's new upcoming models will concentrate on weight saving vs. having more hp. I think that is a smart way to design cars.

i think the e92 lost alot of character with the V8 motor. thats why alot of us e46 guys went with the GT3 instead of the E92 M3.

I didn't mind the V8 in the new M because I'm sure BMW had no choice but to compete with Lexus, MB, and Audi's V8. It's the new styling that made me go with the GT3.

i don't know why you guys are comparing m3 vs. m5. both are relatively fast cars with different purpose. i wanted a relatively fast car to haul a growing family. 4dr, easy-in easy-out.

on topic, 10 yrs from now, the e92 is going to look more dated than the e46. just like the e36 is to the e30. my opinion of course.

some people man online... really do need to get in touch with reality and reassess life as a whole.

You need to relax. I was just highlighting the new tools driving the car. The M3 is a great car but I can't stand half of the people I see on the road driving them. I don't believe it should be a reason why someone shouldn't drive them at all. I drive a Mustang, so I'd know that better than anyone. I must have hit a nerve. I'm pretty comfortable where I am at in life now and things are just getting better. I appreciate your concern though.

That's what it's all about. You guys took my statement a little too personally.

People will always hate on the newest M3. It has been tradition. Eventually everyone will love it again. If you want a "true" M3, buy an E30. Otherwise, just enjoy the latest interpretation.
