Thinking about picking up a Limited Edition

Thinking about trading my 2000 996 C2 Cab for a new Limited Edition Boxster S.

Love the Alacantara interior. The bright orange has grown on me a bit. I like the thought of not seeing myself coming and going all the time.

I know some people might consider this a downgrade, but I think the new Porsche's have nicer interiors and the performance of the new Boxster S should put it right up there with my 996. I think the mid-engine layout will also be a nice change.

Just wanted to get some opinions on the car.

Thanks!

The new Boxster S will smoke your 996 Cab for a lunch anyday of the week.

2000 996 C2 Cab to 2008 Boxster S is a huge upgrade.

Good luck! And keep us posted!

Thanks for the comments. Does everybody else think this is a huge upgrade? I would think performance wise it would be pretty close to my old car.

Has anyone of you gone from a 996 to a 987? Just wanted some more opinions since this would be a big jump for me.

dad had a 996 GT3 that I drove a lot. I have a Cayman S and its fit and finish are much better than the 996...but oh would I love that power in my Cayman!! He is prolly gonna get a 997 GT2 or 3...just a better all around car than the 996.

Yeah, well I know that a 997 is gonna be nicer than a 996. I'm just making sure the 987 would still be a performance increase or on par with my 996. I love my 996. I is my first Porsche and I did little things to make it mine. Kinda makes me sad to sell it or trade it in.

But that LE Boxster S just makes me smile

sounds like you've got your own answer ^^
the lower curb weight and mid-engine design should far outweigh the 996 cab's performance.
DO IT!

Thanks for the help guys. I'll be posting my Cab up in the for sale section. I'll be offering it at a very reasonable price 33-34k. My car still only has 38k on it and I've upgraded quite a few things.

Thanks,

Alec

Definetly an upgrade and one seriously nice package!!!!

Also take a look at the RS60. More power and nicer IMO!

For all my LE brothers out there, what did you get your car for? How much below sticker should I be aiming? My neighbor from childhood works at the dealership, but I don't know what I should be looking for.

Thanks in advance!

I got mine for MSRP + a free car cover because I arranged to buy it before it even got off the boat. The dealer had the upper hand!

For you though, I would imagine dealers really want to get rid of any LE they have at this point. You ought to be able to get at least 3k off. The economy is going to sh*t, Boxster sales are way way down... you have the upper hand. You should pretend you don't like orange and black color schemes all that much but you might be willing to settle for it
