passenger side meets curb
passenger side meets curb
I own a 2000 Boxter. I had a small run in with a curb, I hit the curb on the passenger side. I messed up the front ferring/ air dam, and I am leaking coolant. What is the most probable damage I did to the car?
Yep. And depending on the amount of coolant loss, I would be careful about driving.
Thank you
I really appreciate your responses. I had kind of surmised that, and was hoping to relieve some of the stress. The car is with the body shop now, waiting to hear any news.
A coyote hit the front side of my driver's side in front of the wheel while I was driving on the highway. That's right, he hit me. Came straight across the road at what I estimated to be 30-40mph.
He did $4700 in damage. The radiator was bent as well as the AC condenser as well as some minor fender bends. The whole front bumper cover was torn. Just be sure that when they add the coolant back in, the air is out. I took my car to the local Porsche dealership after the collision work was done. They had to re-drain and fill the coolant to get all the air properly out. If I hadn't done that, who knows what type of engine damage might have happenned.

Thank you, for your replies. It ended up I needed a bumper cover, radiator and I'm sure some hoses, they also had to replace the front trunk compartment, and the passenger side tire. It was about $3700 worth.
But I have a new question...
About two months before this accident, I had to have the hood replaced because some kind of raised truck backed over the hood in a parking lot.
I had the hood replacedby the same body shop.
Here is the question....
I was driving on the freeway home from work and all of a sudden my hood is wrapped round my windshield. I didn't hit anything, and nobody hit me. I managed to maneuver the car to the side of the freeway, good thing I usually drive home in the slow lane, and there wasn't much traffic. I got out to look at what had happened. The part of the latch that attaches to the hood was still firmly locked in the latch, with the screws still in it. It had come unscrewed from the hood. I snapped a couple of pictures with my cell phone for evidence. Then I "popped the hood" so I could get the piece out, brought the hood down from it's new position over the windshield and hand screwed the piece back into position so I could latch the hood down to drive home. I think that the body shop that replaced the hood should have to fix this, I shouldn't have to worry if a part is going to remain bolted
in place after it is fixed. Am I right?

You need to talk to the body shop and your insurance company. Your insurance company should know this happenned. That will put serious pressure on the body shop to repair it right.
If the body shop doesn't repair it right, the insurance company is still usually on the hook to repair it correctly. You'll have to check the details of your policy for all the nitty gritty, but this is how it usually works. Good luck.
