Just get it inspected at a dealer before you buy it. Great Porsche!

I have an 02 S I use as my DD and it has been used for DE and AX. Only maintenace issues so far were a torn CV boot (wear and tear) and a wheel bearing (just plain bad luck, from what I was told).

My 2002 Boxster S is my DD for years. I was often stopped by curious people at Costco parking lot asking me how I could fit all those things. They were surprised! It's quieter (compared to Civic for example) and the ride is more comfortable than Mini. It's definitely a very usable car.

Reliable or not, it depends on how you set the expectation. Not skipping the PPI is a minimum requirement for the pre-owned purchase. If you can, get one with warrenty left so you can fix things up just in case.

I use my 2003 as a DD and absolutely love it. It's comfortable, fun, and top-down driving in the summer mornings can't be beat.

I use my 2005 Boxster as a daily driver but only have 7 miles to go everyday. Like everyone else said, get it inspected and if it still under warranty even better. If not, I would get the service records to check to see if the proper service items were done on time.

Another '02S used as a (many days) daily driver: I live in Nor Cal and drive it most sunny days as I almost never put the top up.

Highly reccomend having it checked out and/or maybe looking for a cpo car.
