Owning Two Caymans?

Hello everyone, been awhile since I have been on here. Hope everyone is doing well.

I am pondering a new Cayman/Cayman S in the not too distant future. Currently I have a 2011 Aqua Blue Cayman that I like a great deal. Turns a lot of heads, it has the Porsche decal/stripe kit along the bottom of the doors.

Lately I have been thinking about a new red Cayman or Cayman S and am just wondering if its an odd/strange thing to have two Caymans in your garage?

Thoughts?

Mike

I'd say if you can afford the 2nd one, then go for it!

I can relate but would suggest NOT to do it . I did in fact have two 997 cars simultaneously (one modded Turbo and one modded 997.2S .. one manual /one PDK) . It was silly to do this . Only one car can be driven at a time and they are so similar that it almost feels like too much of the same concept . In fact i almost did it again and nearly bought a 991S . I still have my Turbo . While sitting in a 991S I realized who not buy a completely differrent car and add variety . So I bought the new Boxster S , I still have my Turbo . and i also have a cayenne . having three totally different cars adds such a variety of driving choices and the collective experience for me is more satisfying than having something like 3 911 cars . Good luck in your decision.

As others have mentioned go for it you can afford it, I would also consider a Boxster or at least test drive one before making your decision.

I agree with yrralis1. If I could afford 2 P-cars, I'd want to have 2 different models. Personally I fantasize about owning a '98 993 C4S to my garage. Less than 300 were ever built.

Not sure two of the same would make sense. Unless you were to strip one, add a cage and harnesses for a track car. That would make sense!

As others have suggested, why not something a little different? Boxster Spyder? 981 Boxster/S? Or, an older 911 of some flavor. Although once you experience the mid-engine platforms, nothing else is the same.

I wouldn't, the new cayman looks so much better than the old one, the old one will end up collecting dust. I suggest a boxster instead and get that drop top experience.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...although I find the 981C very pleasing to the eye, I prefer the classic lines of the 987C.

It is but my eyes seems to agree with very car journalist that ever wrote an article about the 987 and 981. The 981 looks exotic and so much better. I remember going to the Boxster launch and was impressed with the new design. 987 are good looking cars but doesn't compare. I am not going to talk about 986 however. My mom always told me if I don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all.

If you add a 981 to your 987.2 you will probably end up selling the 987.2 within a short time. The new CS is nice and I am waiting to see if anything will be announced for the rumored Cayman GTS.

Please don't get mad (as some of my 981 friends have), but I'm with Enzo Ferrari: "Playboys drive convertibles. Serious drivers drive coupes."

Ok, the new Boxster has taken the edge out of that quote for sure, and the Spyder.....

But to me there is no more beautiful car made than the Cayman.
