Coolant Leaking, How hard to replace?

I have coolant leaking in my 986 when the reservoir is filled up, I assume it is cracked/leaking somewhere. Is it hard to do it myself to replace it?

Thanks

I just checked my Boxster service manual and it looks very easy. Here's what you need to do:

1. Open rear trunk and pull out the oil dip stick. Use needle nose pliers to press together dipstick guide tabs (around where dipstick goes in) and detach guide tube from the engine service tray (the black plastic catch tray).

2. Remove oil filler and coolant reservoir caps. Using a flat head screw driver lever (or pry) off the trim cover underneath the filler necks. This is basically the top cover to the engine service tray.

3. Remove rear trunk floor carpet. Remove trunk trim along front bulkhead (closer to engine bay). You will now be able to clearly see the reservoir tank, coolant level sensor, and coolant reservoir mounting fasteners.

4. Loosen and remove coolant reservoir mounting fasteners. Detach coolant level sensor harness connector.

5. Check for leaks along seam and at coolant level sensor.

Good luck I hope this helps.

If you run into any snags I can scan the page with photos out of my service manual and email it to you. It is only one page. Just supply me with your email address. BTW, what part of CA do you live in? I just moved back to NY from SoCal last summer. I lived in Ventura county. I do miss the nice weather but not the wild fires and traffic.

check to see if you have the coolant cap ending in 01, the one that ends in 00 will cause problems
