Glove box Problem

I was wondering if anyone has had the same or similar situation happen to them. My glove box won't open. It seems as if when you press the button it doesn't unhinge the lock. It isn't stuffed either, but it does have my trusty valentine and sunglasses in it. Is there a solution besides having to take it to the dealer to do it? I would look in the manual but.....its in there too.

Thanks guys

Did you try locking and unlocking it then pressing the button? The locking mechanism may have jammed.

The button feels "disconnected" is when it is locked.

It sounds like the latch has failed, and will have to be replaced. Easy job, and you can get into the glove box with a small pick to slide the catches back in the middle. Only one side has to be depressed, as it works both sides at once. This will make sense once you see how it works. Once open, you can remove the glovebox to replace the latch. Put the key in the hole to keep the tumbler from falling apart, otherwise you will have a mess.

This is a common problem, I replaced mine a few weeks ago, bad quality problem from the supplier. The whole part cost $12 as its a supplier problem.

If you remove the trim strip above the glove box, you van pick the lock with a small screw driver. Angle from the left to right slightly down.

I followed porschespeeddem advice and was able to open it so I took out my valentine, car license, and sunglasses out of the glove box. Ill take it by the dealer soon to have my 40k service done and will take care of it then.

Thanks for your replies and help guys, happy holidays
