Any news from owners of MY '05 CTTs??

Is the lag issue taken care of?

Is the crappy Keyless Entry taken care of?

I have an '05 TT. I have none of the issues (lag, vibration, keyless range distance, etc.) that are routinely written about here. The only problem I have is with oil consumption. My TT has 3K miles on it, and I have already had to add 3 quarts of Mobil 1 by the time I got to 2.5K miles. Since then, no oil use that I can detect. My dealer advised me that although 3 quarts is on the high side, that using this much oil during break in is not unheard of, so we shall see.

Other than having to religiously check the oil every time I get gas, I have no issues / complaints with the mine.

TKD -
I think massive oil consumption is common for Porsche engines. When my car was being broken in, it used about 1qt every 1,000 miles also.

Did the oil consumption level off once the car was broken in?

it did on my 996TT. Now I'm about 1/2 qt. per 1K miles.

1/2 qt per 1K miles still seems like a lot to me. Maybe I'm spoiled, but the last 3 vechicles I've had were from Lexus, and I never had to add oil. Granted I changed the oil every 3K miles, but they never needed oil in between changes.

1100 miles on my CT and zero oil consumption so far. 1 qt. or even 1/2 per 1000 sounds high to me...

Sorry...did you just compare a lexus to a porsche?

The vehicles are created for totally different purposes. Porsche engines are designed to be used & abused in racing situations. Lexus engines are designed to take soccer moms to the grocery store and and go 105K miles between tune ups.

As far as I know, Porsche engines have always used oil.

Shame on me, but yes I did. At a fully loaded cost of approximately 1/2 of my '05 TT, the GX-470 never had any issues, never used oil, and only saw the dealer's service department for scheduled maintenance. I drive approximately 25-30K miles per year, so I spend a lot of time in my cars. Prior to the GX, I had an RX-330 which cost approximately 42K fully loaded. Same deal, never had a single issue.

Granted, neither of these vehicles had 5% of the personality that my TT has, nor did either ever attrack the attention of girls half my age. But from a standpoint of owner satisfaction, Lexus rules for a reason. As I wrote before, so far I have not experienced any of the gremlins which seem to plague this vehicle, and hopefully I will not. So far, this is the most fun to own / drive vehicle I have ever had. But I've also got my fingers crossed, something I never had to do with Lexus ...

Not my Porsche's. That includes the GT3 and CT...perhaps differences in breakin procedures make the difference...or I'm just lucky...

Definately an issue of luck. Short of having some sort of automated breakin via a computer controlled mechanism, nobody could have possible been more careful during breakin than I

I resisted every temptation that arose, including having to deal with the constant issue of having 17 year old kids in tuned Hondas pulling up along side of me at traffic lights and challenging me to race. One even had the nerve to roll down his window at say "Come on grandpa, time to seperate the men from the boys."
