Heated wheel?

If you have heated seats do you have a heated wheel? Just bought an 06 Turbo and it has heated seats but don't know how to turn on or if it has heated steering wheel.

If you have heated seats, it should have it except steering wheel with partial carbon fiber or wood. There is no switch for it, it turns on automatically when it is colder than a certain temperature. I know the owners manual states it somewhere. Btw, I said should because the option list was something like:
- front seats heater
- front seats heater incl. steering wheel
- all seats heater
- all seats heater incl. steering wheel

And the price was same with or without the steering wheel so I cannot imagine a dealer would not order with the steering wheel heater if the car does not have carbon fiber or wood steering wheel.

Well I have the wood wheel and I got in the car tonight ant it was 24 out and the car was cold. Turned on the seat heaters got nice and toasty but no heat on the wheel. So I'm guessing it does not have a heated wheel. Bummer.

i have the default leather wheel. what is this thick leather folks are referring to?

the wheel heater seems to have a mind of it's own. for example, it could be 48 out, but the wheel doesn't heat up unless i have the seat heater on 5 (max)... or sometimes it wants my outside mirror heaters on? (mirror setting to the middle up position) or some combination of the two...

i wish the wheel heater were connected to the seat heater settings. so in the morning when you first get in, crank it up to 5 to get it warmed up quick, then dial it down accordingly. as it is, the seat heater will start to roast quickly, while my hands are still chilly.

Here is the thicker padded wheel at Suncoast. Has two choices, heated and non heated. I ordered mine from Sunset for less with heated, than this one non heated.

thanks for the link AA.

so is that wheel thicker than the stock turbo wheel?

is it just me or does the wheel have hot and cold spots? it doesn't heat up uniformly?

but it sure is nicer than nothing, don't get me wrong. especially since it's been chilly.

It is based on passenger compartment temperature, I do not recall the exact temps, but it is stated word for word in the owner's manual. I'll see if I can dig it up. Also, as stated, if your wheel has any sort of solid material in it, ie: wood, carbon, etc. you cannot have heated steering wheel, but the thicker steering wheel does.

From the manual:
If the interior temperature in the vehicle is lower
than +54°F (+12°C)when the ignition is switched
on, the steering wheel heating is switched on automatically.
When this happens, the steering wheel adjusts to
a temperature of +73°F (+23°C).
If the interior temperature rises above +71°F
(+22°C) when the vehicle is operational, the steering

wheel heating switches off again.
