GTS Manual trans swap into a turbo?

Has anyone done this? I have been looking at buying a used GTS, but not enough horsepower and no supercharger systems available. I won't buy an automatic - period.

Anything is possible with time and money. I would think the this would not be too complicated.
All parts are available and the fitment should not be an issue as manual trans are typically more compact that autos.

Thoughts?

Like you said, anything is possible with enough time and money...so why not get a GTS and go aftermarket FI?

I guess it all comes down to preference but I just don't see the point of a manual in a truck. These things weigh 5k lbs and are not sports cars...not even close. I agree with Famine though. Just get the GTS and go aftermarket. Someone will be willing to build a S/C kit for ya...for the right price.

I think a custom FI set up would be more work than a trans swap with existing pieces.

I just plain prefer a manual in anything I drive.

A GTS with PDCC and a 6spd manual is a great DD. I don't think the OP claimed it was a sportscar, just that he had a preference for a manual transmission.

I think the biggest issue is tuning. A supercharger setup is pretty simple, but I'm not sure if anyone can handle tuning a GTS for boost.

Forced Induction on the GTS is going to be much cheaper/easier than retrofitting a whole new transmission into a Turbo. Keep in mind how much of these vehicles are electronics etc. Debugging the computers in the Turbo for a transmission change could easily top the cost of the vehicle itself.

the super charger kit is possibly coming soon.. I am working with the guys at vf engineering and they are open to the idea and have thought about it in the passed. They love the cayenne but we just need to show them the market for it and PM me so we can further discuss this because the super charger kit will be coming soon

Really? Cool as thats was my only gripe with the GTS, loved it, very fun with the manual trans... I just kept think it needed more power, low-mid torque is lacking for a heavy vehicle. Supercharged GTS would be perfect.

you would want to upgrade the GTS throw as well - the travel is too long for that kind of speed.

a short shift for the GTS would take it to a new level

Definitely. Not only are the throws too long, but the lever is too sloppy.

Still better than that ****ing tip POS.
