Factory XM module installation?

I'm thinking of getting the factory XM module and installing it in my 2006 CS Tit. Is this a DIY install? Is the satellite antenna already in the vehicle, or do I have to run the antenna myself? Does anyone have experience with this? I bought one for my girlfriend's Audi A4, and in that car it was a simple 'plug and play' operation. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

I had this done by the dealer in my '08 997. Cost was about 900.00 for the unit & 600.00 for installation. It was Sirius unit. By '09, Porsche only offered XM and I wanted Sirius so I found an "old stock" Sirius unit and had it installed when the car arrived rather than order XM on the car from the factory. Antenna is mounted under the windshield cowling.

My '09 Cayenne did not come with XM and I've been told that with the new PCM it can't be added.

I have an 08 S with PCM 2.1. I bought the factory XM module and had it installed by my stereo shop. It's not really a DIY. You have to replace the stock GPS antenna for a GPS/XM antenna with harness. There are a bunch of parts. The good news is that I didn't have to get the PCM programmed at the dealer. Once my stereo guy installed it, it recognized XM immediately. Installation ran about $250.00 and the module was about $650. I can't drive without XM, so it was well worth it to me. Hope this helps the OP.

I was also told that it was not possible to add XM to my 2009 model.

Adding XM to a Cayenne isn't a quick plug-and-play installation, I believe it's a couple hour job. I have an installation guide if you would like it, PM me with your email address and I can send it. Dealer activation is required to enable the XM once installed.

It's not possible to add XM to any PCM 3.0 (2009+) radio at this time, and I don't think Porsche will be adding it in the future.
